Parasol question
« on: April 13, 2015, 08:33:27 PM »
You guys helped me figure out which versions of Blossom I found...now I need to know if there's a way to tell which Parasol I have. I saw that, like Blossom, she had her original release, was released again the next year, and also had a mail order version! Yikes. I'm thinking I probably have one of the regular store releases, but I'm not sure how to tell which one. Are their hoof stamps different at all? Here's mine...

I don't know if there's any significant difference between them.

I have two different Parasols, but I think they both came from carboot sales here so I tend to assume they're batch variations. I think it might also explain the "White Windy" myth, because I have two shade tones for Windy, as well. I don't have a clue if this relates to Mail Order or otherwise, though...nor which one came first.

For some reason I don't have pictures of both on my page yet so I can't link them - but I tend to describe them as being strawberry yogurt pink and raspberry yogurt pink.

It's not as defined as the shade difference between UK and European Sweet Clover, or the variation on Speedy - but it is noticeable. I'll try and find the other one and take some pictures.

Its practically impossible to tell her apart from her releases in year 2 and year 3 unfortunately. She pops up with a lot of variation in colour and finish - no doubt due to the numbers she was released in as well as how different ponies have aged. The mail order version has smaller and less glitter in her symbol but unless you have a couple to compare it is very hard to even tell that apart unfortunately.

I would LOVE to see a pic of her as a MO in package. I just tried wiki and had no luck. So, who has evidence that she exists as a MO? Especially if you can get a side by side comparason between her and a store. That would be fantastic! I've had a good dozen of her at once and if one is a MO I'm stumped. Like Lemon Drop and Snuzzle, a dime a dozen and every one different.

UGGGGH Parasol, way to be difficult! Why couldn't you be like your friend Blossom and her differently-hooved sister over there???

Oh well, the important thing to me is that I HAVE a Parasol now, but if I can ever discover which one she actually is, that'd be great. I'm mostly just curious to know more about this particular girl's story, if that makes any sense.

She's on one of the inserts. I forget which off the top of my head, but there are a bunch of Rainbow Ponies offered through MO then?

We have this similar issue with the FF and CF in the UK and whether they were excess store stock or MO stock, and I'm not sure if we have actually proven it either way.

My two HK Parasols. I know for sure the one on the left came from the local carboot sale here in 1994, since she was the first pony I ever found at a carboot sale along with Lickety Split. I cannot remember 100% where the other came from. I just kept her because she wasn't the same as my other one.

One on the left has a different shade of pink in her hair (she's not faded, either, although her symbols are worn). Both of them, their hair falls naturally on the side it is shown on.

I think that the one in your photo looks more like my one on the left, colourwise?? So if she was around all over, she might be regular sale Parasol (but I really don't know for sure whether the other one I have is or isn't regular sale Parasol, too...)

Her and Confetti were clearly manufactured in silly numbers...or were just unpopular they pop up at least 4 MO offers that I can think of off the top of my head. There could be more I am simply forgetting lol.

Wow, Taffeta...I guess it really is no joke that there is such huge variation just within this one pony!
