If you make a second chance offer can the original buyer still pay?

I made a second chance offer which hasn't been accepted, and now after a week the original buyer has appeared offering to pay on Wednesday.  My listing specified that payment should be made within 3 days and my unpaid item assistant kicks in after 5.  I guess I should have waited longer... This is a custom pony that got quite high so I want to do everything possible not to have to re-list.  Any help much appreciated.. ArtiexX

I don't think there's anything in place to stop the original buyer paying unfortunately.   I always open an unpaid item case against the winner and make sure that's closed before making a second chance offer for that reason.

The only way to ensure a buyer can't pay is to open (and close) an unpaid item case, or to wait until the time (60 days from auction close?) is up and the item disappears from your "sold" listings.  In the latter case you're still charged final value fees though which is why unpaid item cases are so important.

Hi, thank you so much for this.  I actually don't care who pays for it at this point so it's going to work in my favour in this case.  The original buyer has an unpaid item case in operation against her so unless I close it, she can still pay. If the losing bidder gets there first then that's cool too.  The only down side I can think of is is the losing bidder sees the second chance offer, wants it but then the item is no longer available.  It would be a shame for them but I guess I'd just have to tell them what happened.

Yayy the losing bidder paid today, she seems so nice!  This also means I just sold the very first custom I have ever let go of for 27 English pounds :flail: and not only that, to someone really nice!

  I'm glad that it all worked out good for you in the end   in the future I would wait for an unpaid item case to close before offering a second chance though to avoid problems
