Personally I would pay the extra.  It just seems to me to be the right thing to do, regardless of eBay's policies, if that's what shipping actually costs.  I think it's reasonable, as a buyer, to cover the total shipping expense, even if the seller made a mistake and quoted the wrong price earlier.

I couldn't disagree more. The seller is the one who is responsible for quoting the correct shipping costs. When Skeen paid for the item, she did her part fair and square. The seller made a mistake and the gracious thing to do is cover the additional costs, keep their mouth shut, and use it as a learning experience. Next time they'll research shipping costs before posting a listing.

I'm sorry they did this to you, Skeen. Can you leave feedback? I would leave a negative for that, to be honest. It was not your fault in the least. If that ever happens again, I would contact eBay instead of the seller and ask for their advice.

I'm sorry this happened to you Skeen. If I were you I would not be happy with this transaction either  :( . 10 days of holding your money, no communication or shipping and then at last he wants you to pay extra?  If the seller quotes the wrong shipping price it is not the buyers fault. It is not the buyers responsibility to pay if the seller messes up the shipping costs, and ebay does not allow a seller to ask the buyer for more money later either. Its a pity he cancelled it and refunded. I would be leaving bad (honest) feedback too  :awake:
If he had contacted you right away about the mistake it would have been better, although he still should not have asked you for more money.

I left him a neutral, and I bought the item I wanted AND the rest of what went with it from one of my favorite sellers here (and she's already shipped because she's some sort of wizard).  :)  All is good with me now!

Has Ebay always been this crappy?? Maybe it's just lately, but I never read good things about it anymore :( It's really disappointing.

yes they can cancel an item even after you win and want the item. This has happened to me a few times and there was nothing I could do. I also bought a pony from another country and they had a price for postage from Columbia. I paid the invoice and they did the same wrote me back that they needed more they said there eBay works differently in there country. I wanted the item so I just paid the extra because I knew if I didn't the auction would just get cancelled like my others in the past.

it can be hard on eBay to ship overseas  as the quotes from eBay are off. and I know people do not like the new method.
