The TE's are very prone to hardening, so don't be surprised if a pony you receive is rock solid. Also Whizzer tends to have a high chance of a head-body mismatch, so be alert on that too when buying :)

Thanks. What's killing me now is that a lot of e-bay auctions end on weekends. I started working weekend nights again a year ago. So I have missed a lot of ponies in the past year because I wasn't willing to sacrifice sleep or I was busy at work when the auction ended so I couldn't place a last minute bid from my phone. But I'll keep my eye out for a Mimic that is BIN during the week, maybe with enough luck and patience it will happen. I'm probably going to be pretty picky about the condition of Mimic since she is one of the most high-dollar ponies still on my list, if not the highest (Li'l Sweetcakes being the other), so I don't expect to have her any time soon. If I had been more patient and organized about collecting early on, and known about the forums vs. eBay, a lot of my G1's would be in nicer condition. I may upgrade some of them one day.

When and if you need to bathe your new acquisitions, be advised that some cleaners will take the iridescent coating off the eyes! Here is a list of chemicals/cleaners known to harm twinkle eyes:

hydrogen peroxide
oxiclean

(any others? I'll add more as people suggest them... I haven't cleaned with everything!  :P)

The TEs are one of my favourite sets :)

I agree with all that others have said about points of concern with the various individual ponies but just to add, Whizzer is SO prone to brown age spots as well as the head/body mismatch already mentioned. I've noticed her hair is prone to some pretty extreme frizz too.

Oooh good to know because I have used Oxyclean in the past for cleaning.

As with so many G1s, I think the idea of starting with the first set is the best bet :) Other than Fizzy, most of that set can be picked  up under $10 each in lovely condition! Also...no matter what buy Sky Rocket and Sweet Pop :P They are 2 of those ponies that get so little attention but are just gorgeous when you meet them in person...and they are also often reasonably priced.
Thank you Matcha for my gorgeous Baby Fifi avi
Loa is my love god!
I love Loa more than PonyLady!
