Ebay's Multiple Account Rules?
« on: March 10, 2015, 05:39:33 PM »
I have seen several cases where people have two ebay accounts: one for buying and one for selling. I was wondering, is this against eBay's rules? Are people allowed to have more than one ebay account? I'd like to set up a second account. I know it'll split my feedback, but I have way more than 50 items I can list in a month, and I am finding their 'fifty free items per month' thing really restrictive.

If I remember correctly (and I might be wrong- been awhile), I had to link the 2 ebay accounts to 2 different bank accounts.  I was trying to set up an ebay account to help my in-laws sell some glassware but I wanted to be in control of it since they aren't internet savvy.  I couldn't have two ebay accounts linked to my bank account so I opened a new bank account (in-laws contributed the opening balance) and was able to have two that way.  One I use for me and one I use for them.  Don't know if that helps or if my experience is still relevant to current rules but that's what I did!

eBay allows you to have as many accounts as you want. All you need to open a new eBay account is a separate email address and a unique user ID. You can safely use the same name, address and contact information.

What you should be aware of though, is that all these accounts will be interlinked by eBay and that’s bad news. In practice this means that if one of your accounts get suspended/banned, the others will be closed shortly afterwards because from eBay’s point of view you will have become too much of a risk as a seller.
