hybrid advice?
« on: January 21, 2016, 02:50:48 PM »
so i got a beautiful pullip head, and well.
i want to give her a body.
i have an azone body i could use, but i wanted to go with something bigger.
i know that, skin tone wise, apple or duchess match from eah.
but the size isn't much bigger than an obitsu. in face i think it's smaller.
i do have a moxie teenz body who is searching for a head, but the skin tone is much darker.
i really like how the size looks

i'm not against repainting the whole head or even trying to dye it. (if that even works) then redoing the faceup. the face up is pretty, but i'm ok if it changes as well.

what ever i chose i know there will be modification that will need to be made. and some might not even be possible. either way. i either get this girl a body. or i sell the head off.... advice?

i'll post a few picture tonight.

About what size body did you have in mind? I know people have put pullip heads on the larger obitsus. They're pretty pricey though :\

at least 13" i think. otherwise i'd just put her on an eah or azone i already have.
the head seems better balanced that way.
i like obitsu and have several, but sometimes their joints are so clunky. i wanted something that looked a little more streamline, but everything is the wrong skin tone. most american retail dolls all have a "healthy glow"

Hmm. I put one of my pullips on an obitsu and I liked it a lot. I don't know about other hybrids off the top of my head. Hmm

What about this? I think she might be the right scale.

her size is perfect, but there is still the problem of the skin tone. the head i currently have on the moxie teenz is maddie head and it matches pretty well.
i think the pullip head would be classified as "white" in the obitsu world....

Yeah you might have to repaint the whole head. I made a Beauty Cuties (head even bigger than Pullip, body smaller than EAH) hybrid with a lighter skin tone playscale BFC Ink body. I had to paint her head to match but I was careful about her lips and eye makeup so that could stay original and I just needed to add blush. Tho if you are going to paint her you could even use a 17in MH body and make her pink or green.

that's a good point. i do have a 17" clawdeen at home i've been meaning to do something with. personally i love the darker toned dolls, so maybe this is a good opportunity.
i don't know if i would try to keep her make up. it's pretty, but it's simple, so it might be good practice.
has anyone ever tried to dye one of the pullip heads?

I wonder if they won't make one of the paler skin EAH girls in the 17" size... could be worth waiting to find out!

oh i hadn't thought of that.
i guess a large sized apple isn't too far fetched.

The general consensus seems to be that Pullips don't take to fabric dye too well. And depending on the tone, it may make the plastic more red than brown. It seems painting the head is the way to go.

Yup, dying doesn't work on their plastic. I have seen plastic safe spray paint used.

A lot of people use an airbrush too. Just think of it like any FBR.
