any tax experts?

I have a quick question. I just filed my boyfriends and my taxes for last year. His came out great. He made between the two security jobs he had last year about $9000, and got his full refund of $466 back. That was the full amount with held. Between my two jobs from last year I made about $18,000, with about $1000 being with held. All I'm getting back is $538. Does that sound right? I work retail if that helps.

Yes, that sounds right.  If you make more than 14,590 (for a single person without kids) then you tend to get taxed a little harder and don't get the bonus return boost of getting Earned income credits.  So if you make below that threshold you tend to get a pretty sweet return, but once you go above it it starts to nibble away at your refund.

What Iris said. Once you jump to that next tier the amount you give up goes up.
