Fashion Style haircuts!
« on: February 19, 2015, 10:33:53 AM »
I was unbelievably lucky to find a FS Princess Twilight at a local kids resale shop, and then I bought a FS Fluttershy from CassCass3742 for my DD. The FS hair has always drived me nuts--they aren't show accurate and they get messy easily. I had bought a RD with a haircut from ShortyBoo not too long ago, and loved that she had shorter hair, not poofy curls, so decided to try it with Princess Twi and Fluttershy.

There are Mane 6 show-accurate hairstyling tutorials floating around DeviantArt, which are really helpful!

My hands were shaking when I was cutting the bangs, oh my word, so nervous! Didn't turn out badly, and DD loves it! She has even commented that the smaller brushables need to have bangs too.

Fluttershy! I kept the ribbons long because DD likes them. Because of the bigger size, I used a spool of thread for her hair poof (the tutorial for a brushable size uses a battery), but it is a bit too poofy LOL I also cut that side a bit too short. Ah well, DD likes her, and that's all that matters! I really prefer the smaller wings that Fluttershy has--the ones that are seen on the rest of the pegasi/alicorns are large and awkward.

I did get an extra FS Cadance from the resale shop (they both came in a bag with extras for only $4, super freaking awesome!!) that I'm trying to figure out what to do with. I might give it to my niece, or I might try my hand at customizing her (since FS AJ is nowhere to be found for a realistic price...or maybe Minty, DD's second army pony).

I wasn't interested in the G4 brushables as such, partly because I feel that a toy line that is so heavily connected to characters of a show should at least make an effort to have the toy counterparts be faithful in appearance to the show characters.

And then I saw a tutorial on Pinterest for making brushable Twilight Sparkle's mane and tail more show accurate, and realized it was down the rabbit-hole for me, lol

It can be a real pain to style the hair (especially if you've never done anything like it before), but if it's done right it looks even better than the molded hair.

Also, your Twilight is very cute.

LoL I have a 5yo who is rough on her toys. Long hair is impossible!

Thanks :)

Your Twilight and Fluttershy look very nice. :) I wish I had the guts to make my ponies look show accurate, but I'd probably just make a big mess. *laughs* Very interested to see what you'll wind up doing with Cadance. Have fun! :)
