I was unbelievably lucky to find a FS Princess Twilight at a local kids resale shop, and then I bought a FS Fluttershy from CassCass3742 for my DD. The FS hair has always drived me nuts--they aren't show accurate and they get messy easily. I had bought a RD with a haircut from ShortyBoo not too long ago, and loved that she had shorter hair, not poofy curls, so decided to try it with Princess Twi and Fluttershy.
There are Mane 6 show-accurate hairstyling tutorials floating around DeviantArt, which are really helpful!

loginFluttershy! I kept the ribbons long because DD likes them. Because of the bigger size, I used a spool of thread for her hair poof (the tutorial for a brushable size uses a battery), but it is a bit too poofy LOL I also cut that side a bit too short. Ah well, DD likes her, and that's all that matters! I really prefer the smaller wings that Fluttershy has--the ones that are seen on the rest of the pegasi/alicorns are large and awkward.
I did get an extra FS Cadance from the resale shop (they both came in a bag with extras for only $4, super freaking awesome!!) that I'm trying to figure out what to do with. I might give it to my niece, or I might try my hand at customizing her (since FS AJ is nowhere to be found for a realistic price...or maybe Minty, DD's second army pony).
