How hard to find are Mommy Charms and Petite Ponies?
« on: June 18, 2015, 11:40:38 AM »
I have recently started to collect the Mommy Charms and the Petite Ponies and I was wondering how hard to find they were? I have only been searching a short time but haven't seen many for sale on eBay or other places, the Mommy Charms in particular.

I just sold almost all of mine, but I was selling them on IG. They do pop up on etsy and ebay but I think the best place to buy them would be here :)

I haven't looked to collect them for a long time, I sort of decided they weren't a priority for me, but I seem to remember that the three Ponytail sets are more common and the Twinkle, Glowing, Bright Sight, Pearly ones are harder/more expensive. I'm not sure about Pony Parade.

The playsets don't come up a lot on ebay as far as I've seen. I just went through mine and packed the ones I'd found into their boxes with accessories, and I realised that the ones I got here in the UK have some colour variations to ones I've seen online (plus the Euro/UK release playset ponies all have brushable/real hair tails, whereas I've seen ones from the States which don't) so identifying them can be tough.

The Charms I think are even worse. Since they were distributed originally in pony packaging with other ponies, it's really tough to track them all down, especially in good condition. I admit, I gave up trying.

you can plan on spending $3-25 for a single petite, depending on which one ;) glowing are generally the most expensive and htf

many in the $5-8
some in the $12-15

not sure on charms

they pop up on ebay and sometimes sellers here.

Glowing Magic and Twinkle are the hardest to find of the petites in my experience. I think I've paid anywhere from $8-18 for a single one of the. Bright Sights are the next most expensive, but they don't go as high. All of the others (pony parade, pearly, ponytail, sparkle) are reasonable inexpensive and not too hard to come by.

A couple of years back there was a massive glut of mummy/mommy charms that dropped the prices considerably, but not sure where they are right now.

Thanks for you replies everyone and for all the helpful info! I guess we will just have to keep hunting and some will come up eventually as they always do! For me the main priority is the charms as I also collect Charmkins. I had quite a few of the charms as a child and loved them! I also had the almost all the petites but I never liked them as much even now I only want the ones without the real hair!

I keep hearing about this glut of the mommy charms if only I had been collecting them back then  :| I wonder if the low prices have stopped people from selling them or if they are genuinely rare again? Hopefully someone reads this and realises there is a demand for them again. I would pay at least $20-$40 per charm if they were in good condition!

Oh I love Charmkins! That's why I started collecting the mommy charms to start, but they were just sitting in a box so I figured it was time for them to go to a new home. I think I sold mine for around $8-10 each :)

The mommy charms have bumped back up a little in price after the massive drop they suffered from the flooding of ebay of them (as LadyG has mentioned). However they are still much easier and much less expensive than they were a couple of years ago. You should manage all of them for no more than $8 each (assuming we are just talking of the mail order versions :)

I saw Sweet Scoops's charm sell for an insane price on ebay not so long ago. I wouldn't like to imagine what that one would currently be worth in collecting circles (does that technically count as a "Mummy Charm" or not, since it does use the same mould, but isn't part of the set?

And there are also those ones that came of the FF pony characters, too...aren't there...

Yes I saw that Sweet Scoops sale! It is crazy how rare vintage toys are now going so high! It is always dangerous when a rare item is also really gorgeous like Sweet Scoops I can see why people are willing to pay insane prices for her!!

I have paid around ten to twenty for the charms i bought recently. I think is will be more a matter of availability than price to collect the set. I have been away from vintage collecting for a long time and I have forgotten about the chase! The worst thing is I almost won a big lot of them years ago but I either lost at the last minute or the seller cancelled the auction :(

The Charmkins are great! I collected them about ten years ago and have recently got them back out to display and have totally fallen in love with them again. That is what reminded me of the Pony Charms! The Petite Castle is very similar to Charmkins so I am hoping to buy that as well.
