Is There a Resource Like This?

Hi all,

Does anyone know if there's an online resource that lists which G3 ponies are prone to different problems: cancer, regrind, rotting hair, etc....?

None that I'm aware of, but that certainly doesn't mean it's not out there.

I don't believe vinyl deterioration / age spots ("cancer" is not an appropriate term for a physical object cannot get sick) has shown up yet in G3's, nor regrind - the problems that usually get mentioned are disappearing glitter in all the sparkle ponies, and the rotting pink, which seems to strike all the mail order and discount chain ponies with magenta being the worst, but other colors also potentially deteriorating.  Seems Hasbro used cheaper quality hair for them.

No; no list out there. Unfortunately some of the issues - mainly age marks/cancer - can happen to any pony, any plastic. We have seen it and regrind in G3s but only very rarely so we dont have as set a pattern as we have with G1. The rotting hair is just about any pony with those particular colours from the second half of the line - particularly any sold as store exclusives.

Exclusives from just Dollar General & Avon or all exclusives (Toys 'R Us, Target, Kmart,  KB Toys, etc...)?

Any pics out there for regrind/age spots in G2/G3?  I'd be curious to see if it looks the same as G1.  Come to think of it, I don't remember when those problems started showing up in G1 but it was at least by the mid-90's if memory serves.

Personally I've only run into the "rotting pink" problem with the Avon exclusives, but my G3 collection is not very extensive and we didn't get many exclusive ponies up here.

As far as G3 goes, the only problem I've encountered personally is my 1st edition Pinkie Pie's head only (not her body, weird!) is having that sticky-ness from the plasticizer leaking.

None of my G3s have developed age spots or regrind that I know of, but most of them are packed up so should probably inspect them at some point to double check.  My Piccolo has really bad plasticizer leaking, though.  She's all sticky and nasty and is turning a not-so-nice green color that just can't stack up to her lovely original blue...  And the plasticizer is making her hair greasy, too.  It's a shame because she's one of my favorites.  I can't wait till all the plasticizer is done leeching out so she won't be so sticky even though I do wash her off when she needs it.  I kind of want to upgrade her and still keep my original because she's special since I got her in Disney World.
