« on: January 12, 2015, 06:22:39 PM »
How many different kinds of vintage pony banks are there?  What do they usually go for ? I am looking to find one. Thanks!

Oooh I have a bunch of these but they are all packed away and I can only remember a few off the top of my head:

Bowtie
Tootsie
Blossom
Posey

I feel like there are more but I can't remember!

They are a lot of fun to collect.  I was obsessed with them a few years back!

Off the top of my head those are the only ones I can think of as well cricket. They vary in price (and some of them often suffer from plastic degradation issues quite badly). Put aside a $18-20 mark for them mostly but expect to pay perhaps up to $30 depending on who is looking at that time especially if the banks are in very good condition.
Thank you Matcha for my gorgeous Baby Fifi avi

There are also some fakie banks from the 80's that some bank enthusiasts will collect. I used to have several in the color schemes of the original 6 ponies, but I sold them last year. I'll have to see if I still have a picture...

There are those 4 for sure, and variations of them.  It looks like the molds were changed slightly over time, and there are, I think, 3 different hairstyles but not all the ponies got all 3 hairstyles.  Off the top of my head I know I have 2 Bowtie banks with different hair and I know that many years ago I had a Blossom bank with different hair than the one Aadra310 had/has.

Bowtie will usually be some sort of green though, sadly.

EDIT - some pics.  The top one is a bank Mr. Skeen recently bought for me and the bottom is from a current auction.  See how they're different?  Mine is very shiny while the other seems matte, too.

I have four of the fakie banks shown in halicabi's bottom picture:  yellow green, blue & purple.
I also have the Blossom bank shown in halicabi's top picture.

The Blossom bank I paid about $18 for a couple of years ago.  The fakies banks I picked up from Kitkatvintage last year.

As a former Banker, I have a fondness for banks!
