Comparison of the DJ dolls
« on: December 17, 2014, 07:55:16 AM »
So I have the Basic DJ doll and was wondering if the more expensive one is a better buy. I looked at the pictures on Amazon, and while I adore the workable hood, I think the Basic doll has the better wardrobe. The music note belt and skirt are so adorable and so DJ, and unless I just can't see clearly, it looks like the more expensive doll's clothes don't even have a music note motif or really look like something DJ would wear. (Although I guess a lot of the dolls have that problem.) It also looks like the expensive one doesn't even have movable knees, so is she really the exact same doll as the Basic, just with different (and not plastic) clothes?

I think it comes down to what you prefer in a doll - moveable parts or the better and perhaps more suitable wardrobe. I personally like the basic doll better - she is just cuter! But thats very much a personal opinion. I am sure you will get more accurate comparisons soon :)
Thank you Matcha for my gorgeous Baby Fifi avi

I chose the deluxe one for the hooded jacket and better glasses.  I also don't like the look of the plastic tops on the basic dolls.
Also, when I went on Amazon just now to compare them, the deluxe version was only $6!  And the convertible's $11- maybe I shouldn't have done all my shopping in November :P.

I like them both but prefer the deluxe doll... I love her glasses and her hooded jacket. She also has better hair in my opinion. The hair is the same quality on both dolls, but the basic has kind of a strange haircut that isn't noticeable until you take off her glasses.

The one thing I love about the basic doll is the boots, though. I put those on my deluxe instead. :'D

Interesting; I didn't notice anything strange about the haircut in front. I think it's adorable. :) It looks odd in the back, though, although I suppose it couldn't go much differently when they were trying to have the front/side pieces longer than in the back.

I don't like plastic clothes, either; I wish the deluxe doll was wearing the same outfit as the Basic, just minus the plastic. The Basic's clothes are so adorable.

Amazon's price on the deluxe at the moment is certainly hard to beat, though! But I still don't know if she actually does move more than the Basic. From the pictures, it didn't look like it.

Yeah, that's what I meant about the haircut. It's odd from the back because it's different lengths... So it looks cute with the glasses on but if you take them off and try to brush her hair down, it doesn't lay as nicely as say the deluxe's does.

I also really dislike the plastic clothes, though mostly because they mean I can't transplant the basic's head onto a Monster High body since the plastic clothes don't fit. :( I'm probably just going to buy any articulated Rarity that comes out in the future and steal her body for basic DJ.  >_<
