I just won my first Greek pony! (+PC)
« on: November 16, 2014, 09:58:29 AM »
Can I get a yay, can I get a woow, can I get a zoooooom! *dances happily*

I just won my first ever Greek pony from a local auction site here in Finland! It's Greek Peachy ^_^
I might say she was pretty cheap find, but I'm not really sure..

Would anyone have an idea what this pony might go for? :) She has a few marks etc, tail is a bit cut. But overall it seems to be in pretty good condition (here is a picture from the auction, no marks on the other side of the pony http://kuvat2.huuto.net/e/67/4b3a789ab0e0ba17a32441a1d210e-orig.jpg.

She doesn't seem to have any marks under her hooves, is that common for Greeks?

Please let me know guys. I'll add better pictures of this dear when I get my hands on her <3 I'm super happy!!  :lovey:

I hope you don't mind, but what did you win her for?
She's definitely not beyond repair. The dark mark looks to be coming from inside and the mark above her eye could be sunfaded away, but it honestly looks like a cute little tattoo. A donor tail would be no problem to find, but... Short manes are in this season. :silly:

She's definitely Greek, no doubt. I can't help with price too well as I am a bit out of touch with most Greeks, but I have seen some with barely any symbols and no other issues end at $35 in August and then again for $9 in Sept. That doesn't give much help at all.. :lmao:

She still has her symbols, so she has that going for herself! I'd personally prefer to do a little work on a pony with symbols than to have the fading symbols, but not everyone will feel the same.
I'm just curious what's in there causing that dark mark..
We'll see what the Greek pony experts have to say. :cheer:

Congratulations :)

CP Greek have no marks under there feet, but you can sometime see the Hong Kong mark. They used HK moulds and didn't do a very good job of scrubbing the marks off.

I would value her around $20-25 prices for some Greek ponies has really dropped in the last year or so making collecting Greek ponies much more accessible.

I would also put her around $25 - the marks bring her down a bit, but the symbols look in excellent shape for a Greek Peachy! :)

Thanks so much everyone for your answers! :)

:silly:

I paid 15€ for her, which would be around 18 us dollars. I found it cheap for a nirvana that doesn't pop up often, at least in the market here in Funland (:D)! So for me it was a very good price, and also I don't have to pay bigger amounts for international shipping, that's always great too!

The seller said that the dark mark around the symbols might have come from a child touching it with fingers that had some penmarks/ink in them. I'll see better when she arrives, but looks like that might be something that would come off. I don't really even mind the short tail, but yes possibility to get a new one if it starts bothering me!

Since she'll be my first greek pony, I'm very excited to see what the differences are, like the softer feel to the body, and some sort of unique smell those ponies have?

Thanks also pkw and LadyGuinevere for your information :) It makes me happy to know that I at least didn't pay over price for her. I'm just very happy to add a greek to my collection, finally! Even if it is a bit more common one! (On another note.. There is also a Greek Medley auction closing in 10 days, but I have a feeling that will rise too much in price.. We'll see  :P)

Thanks guys  :good:

She's a common one, but her symbols are great and she has personality. I love imperfect ponies so she would've won me over too. :)
You got a good deal.

I would've suggested to try a magic eraser sponge on the dark areas..... But  given the location, it's not worth possibly damaging those beautiful hearts.
Hopefully some dish soap can lighten it a teeny bit, but it's not the end of the world if it doesn't.
I love the texture of Greek ponies and their hair... Sooooo nice.

Nice find and price. I won her last year, I think and with shipping from greece to USA, the total was about $40. Hmm..maybe it wasn't peachy but it was one of the collector pose ponies.

Ahhhh it's the same for me, I have a thing for imperfect ponies  I always thought it was something that made each of them unique, if they had a small mark somewhere, or a bit of a haircut. Some of the children (gosh, not all of them, definitely not all!) really knew how to cut pony hair nicely, some of mine have really nice styles lol!
So I'd say she's pretty perfect first greek for me. The symbols on the other side seemed to be even a bit more red, I'm definitely taking a lot of pictures when she arrives! Yay

Yeah postage can also be quite expensive if buying internationally :( But still nice price! ^^ Thank you!

Ooh, sister really? Aa I'd love to see pictures of her!! Exciting if they have the same kind of marks! :D

Sounds like you got a good deal :) Definitely be very careful around her symbols though, as they are well known for 'bleeding'!
