Help! Can I do anything for MIP G1 Bluebelle?
« on: October 27, 2014, 07:17:22 AM »
Hello ponies! I need some help I'd possible, I won a lovely mint in pack g1 bluebelle and I knew she had these marks on her but I just want to know if I can fix it? The clear plastic that is holding her hair down and around her face is making the odd 'goo' and it moves around and seems to come off...

I just want to know if there's anything I can do (hard with a sealed pack eek!) Or if it's nothing to worry about? I still think she's amazing and my first mint adult! :)

You gotta get in there. I wonder if you could try a surgical but minimally invasive procedure of making a small inconspicuous incision along a seam, moving it over the affected region and cleaning it up with solution and q-tips? That way she can remain in package.

She is a cutie! But it looks unfortunately as though something has either got in the packet with her on the tape around her head has started to yellow/tan with time. There is nothing you will be able to do for her inside the package unfortunately. If the staining on the plastic has not leached on to her body itself you will need to be aware it will eventually happen.

Congrats on finding her though!

Maybe there was a rubber band around the hair?

Maybe there was a rubber band around the hair?

Its a plastic wrapper - the same as ponies sold on cards :) But as its stretch wrap it will have some adhesive qualities which add to the likelihood of yellowing.

Wow! She's amazing!

I think it will be difficult, but I second making a small incision and treating it like a surgery, removing the plastic with tweezers, cleaning the pony with q tips! :D

Could be fun too!

Thanks guys :) what exactly are q tips? And I might see if there may be an existing hole somewhere... I'm just not sure yet!

Oooohhhhh! Now I understand hehe! And thank you :)
She hasn't been stained (from what I can see) as of yet so maybe I can stop it from happening! Thanks everyone, when I'm home I'll look for any tiny holes I can try with!

Good luck! Don't forget to take lots of pictures and document the process for the sake of research!

Ok well I gave it a shot but sadly she has been stained after the decades in the pack :( I still got rid of the goo and the color has lightened up at least! Either way she is still amazing to me and not bad for the $20 I paid :)

Here's some photos: (of the process like ponyqueen reccommended!)

Turns out I didn't have to make a hole! There was two holes either side on the top corner just the perfect size for a cotton tip swab!

It fit so nicely and slipped under the plastic that holds her hair down, with the cotton tip like it is in the photo I was able to twist it to clean up and also move it to and fro to scrub.

She's not perfect but after a bit of scrubbing and twirling I have removed the goo and improved the discoloration! The photos don't show it well but the improvement is nice in person :)

Especially on this side, the yellowing on her neck has been significantly reduced!

Sadly her nose is the worst but I tried.
If I'm confusing you with anything let me know! But I am happy with her :)
