Goodbye Boomerang channel
« on: October 15, 2014, 02:39:38 PM »
Turner has announced a re-structuring of Boomerang in 2015:
http://www.cartoonbrew.com/business/boomerang-is-dead-long-live-boomerang-104510.html?fb_action_ids=742070985865397&fb_action_types=og.likes

The most popular old cartoons will remain, but it looks like all of the other MGM and Hanna Barbera stuff is getting the axe in favor of newer stuff. :enraged:

From the sounds of it, it doesn't seem to be too different from what the channel was already doing, such as airing international/non-US shows ( I know they showed Puppy in my Pocket, and that show was from Italy, IIRC). But it is a bummer all the same, since a lot of the old shows won't be seen anymore.

I give Boomerang props for sticking around for so long when it comes to airing older programming - I remember how sad I was when Toon Disney (and Nicktoons at some point) stopped showing the older cartoon shows.
Thank you so much for the adoptable, Corona! :D

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO Smurfs! No, come on. BUMMER.  I haven't had cable for over a decade and this is what I get when I get it back? First the Hub changes format axing all the good late 80's/early 90's shows and now this? Why???? ::insert super duper whiney voice here::

I.......I'm not sure how I feel about this. I mean I like the idea of cartoons from around the world but I don't want the others to go away either.....

I am kinda reminded of a series that Cartoon Network used to air early in the morning on weekends called "Small World", which aired different shorts/cartoons from all over the world ( i remember ones from the UK, Australia, ect.) . Also even had one called "O Canada", that was the same thing but aired Canadian shorts.  I liked both shows, so I too am happy about that part of the Boomerang change.
Thank you so much for the adoptable, Corona! :D

I would join in about being upset by this and the Hub change, but I don't have cable, and I'm not sure if I ever will... so the only times those channels were really relevant to me were when I was house sitting and could watch cable tv there.

Wow, so basically we're just gonna see the same old stuff cartoon network has :/

I admit, I never watched the 60s cartoons (unless it was the classic Scooby-Doo stuff) but as long as it'll still air Chowder, The Grim Adventures of Billy and Mandy, PPG, Courage the Cowardly Dog, and Johnny Bravo I'm good XD
Oh no!

More and more, you can find classic cartoons on Hulu, Crackle, etc. At least that's good.

Actually, I think teletoon and its sub channels come with the main package...atleast that was my understanding since it debuted in 1996 (as an alternative to YTV).

I don't really watch tv too much but will randomly catch tidbits here and there.
