Cutting G3/3.5 McD's tails off? And poking more plugs?
« on: October 19, 2014, 01:35:56 PM »
I have a couple McDonald's ponies that I want to customize. I want a brushable tail, but don't know what to use to cut the molded one off (or form a hole). I also want one to have a thick mane, so I want to poke many new plugs for it. Are there any good tutorials?
Here's my ACNH creator code. I thought I might share it, since I have quite a few pony designs.

Sorry I can't help you but I'm also interested to see tutorials/info about the tail issue.  Actually I would have liked to have seen it a few weeks ago, heh heh.   XD  Didn't think to ask!

Good luck!
Thanks to Shimmlight for the new avatar image

Just entering a decent amount of hair into the holes in the ones with nice hairlines is generally sufficient on that front. No worries, it's easy to poke more holes if needed or wanted.  ^.^

I don't have a tutorial for the tails but have gotten much better at through practice. I do warn that about 1:10 have some sort of air bubble flaw in their backside that make customizing them problematic. This can be patched with Apoxie sculpt or whatever but painting it the right color afterwards is problematic if you want to keep the factory color look. Make sure whatever knife/knives you use are either really sharp or really safe. You end up cutting toward one of your own body parts more often than I would feel comfortable recommending to others... I use a small drill to make the tail hole and a Dremel to sand down the edges of the legs and tail. Or to widen the hole just a smidge. ;)

Here's a few examples of some that I've done : http://mlparena.com/index.php/topic,359271.0.html
Good luck!  :art:
