Anyone run an indiegogo/crownfunding willing to lend wisdom?
« on: September 12, 2014, 07:40:34 PM »
Hello, I have been looking into starting an Indiegogo campaign, since I have seen people get everything from projects started to convention tickets/rented rooms. My campaign would be about trying to raise funds to get my sewing supplies that I had to leave states away with a friend a long time ago, he wrote me a few days ago and said I have until the middle of October to get it because he's moving.

I was just wanting some help with it from someone who has maybe ran one before.

Be careful hun, the actual campaign itself will not be allowed to be posted here since it will conflict with the 'no donations' rule.

I haven't really looked into it--but im sure friends and family can help you out?  Do you know anyone that lives close by him?  At the very least it could be stored somewhere until you are able to get to them?

I haven't done it, but I have friends who have with varying degrees of success. The ones who made the most posted on social media and let their IRL friends and family know about it and had a good story or reason of what they will use the money for.

The sites have you set up thank you gifts at different constitution tiers. Can be as simple as a thank you card or if you offer a service, a complementary service (example, photo session or custom pony).

You can set it to take the money whether or not you reach your goal , and I forget specifics but they will take a bigger portion of your donations depending on how you choose to receive your funds.

Indiegogo takes a 17% cut of your money, Kickstarter has 5% flat fee but also charges per donation:  https://www.mlparena.com/help/fees

I would choose a lot of other fundraising methods to raise the funds, honestly.
