Delurking/selling my collection
« on: September 08, 2014, 06:19:39 AM »
Hi everyone,

It's been a loooooooooooong LOOOOONG time! How's it going? I hope all is well in Ponyland.

After my latest move and various abrupt financial changes, while I will always love all things MLP, I think it is probably time to substantially downsize my collection. I am sure  other collectors will love them just as much as I have! Also I lost a box when moving including Hopscotch (my avi) and Moulin Rouge customs and all my G1 rainbow ponies and that's always made me a bit sad since... anyway that's all by the by.

We are talking about a couple of hundred ponies, lots of G1 including euro princesses, various rare European ones, plus lots of well-loved ones and some which are really cutom bait, plenty of G2 including babies and MIP and G3 with a mixture of MIP, collector specials and well-loved ones from brocantes and flea markets. Plus some amazing customs... all at the more fabulous/sparkly end of the spectrum! Plus Baby Bonnet School of dance (complete), the Show Stable, the G3 cafe, the G2 catwalk castle thingy...

How/where would you guys advise selling them? One huge lot, split them up into groups, or one by one? Here on the arena, or EBay, or should I come over to the UK for one last Ponycon and get a stall there? Postage from Belgium is probably not going to be cheap...

Really it is quite a big step and so I thought I would ask the experts... you guys... you can tell form this I'm not from the spreadsheet/neat inventory school of pony collecting, I've just kind of gathered them over the year! Any thoughts/advice gratefully received!

Also I have my Sailor Moon and She-Ra stuff, mulling over what to do with that!

Thanks!

I am sorry to hear that you have to sell some of your collection. I know that its hard cause I have had to do it also. I would list them on here first. Take pictures of them in groups and put your asking price under them. I guess that is what I would do. Sometimes selling them in a group is good if you want to get them out fast. But  you are able to make a little more off them if you sell them single.

Lots of luck on selling your ponies :) I cant wait to see who you have! :)

I'm sorry to hear that you have to sell your collection.  I've done it a few times but I know that I can start up again eventually.

I think coming over to UK Ponycon would be a great idea especially for giving them a good send-away.  :)  Check on the UK Ponycon forums to see if there is any interest in particular ponies so you know what is best to bring.

Hi Purple_Frances!*waves* Sorry about your lost ponies :(

If you can make it to Ponycon and have a stall, I think that would be an excellent idea. Then you can sell whatever you have left afterwards. It is a big step though - make sure you're sure

I am so sorry you are having to sell :( But sometimes we move on right? And real life just has to take priority *hugs*

I agree with Paint and LadyG, a stall at Pony Con sounds like a fantastic option. It would allow you to make the best money, sell them singly but in volume and of course sell them on to people you know! I hope you get that chance. But if you dont, for the best financial value I really would suggest initially listing ponies individually rather than in lots.
Thank you Matcha for my gorgeous Baby Fifi avi
