Mmmmm I love a good old fashioned chicken noodle. I also love broccoli cheddar, black bean, chili, and chicken tortilla soups. Now I want soup!

I do like soup, but hubby not so much. Usually I have either cup-a-soup or some pre-made one I can take to work.

I always think I like soup, and then I make it and don't really want it! I do like ramen though, especially good ramen with lots of added nommies like meat, veggies, and eggs.

We've been eating a lot of chicken noodle soup because we both feel rather icky. Rather sick of it at this point. >_> But other than that I love soup! Stew is really good too. Nice and filling and you have leftovers for days.

I love soup! I used to be one of those people who only had chicken noodle soup when they were sick, but now I have soup (liptons cup a soup) several times a week, sometimes daily ^.^ I also love to have irish stew over a bowl of mashed potatoes, it's the perfect combination of comfort food and warmth during the winter months :)

I've already started craving and making my Thai Coconut Curry Soups.  Can eat them about every day.  I do a red curry variant and a green curry variant.  Both are delicious.  I don't really have a recipe, sorry, I just kind of throw this in and that in and build the stock until it tastes right.  ^^

Pumpkin beef stew! I'll make beef stew (crockpot, stovetop...) then scrape the seeds out of a pie pumpkin and fill it with the stew and bake it in the oven for an hour. When I serve, scrape a bit of pumpkin and break it up in the bowl before serving. You could also just add canned pumpkin and extra allspice to regular beef stew.

My daughter loves a simple potato soup that I can change for each family member by using different toppings.
2 giant potatoes, peeled and sliced thin
1 leek, white only
32 oz chicken broth (veggie broth or water work fine)
1 tblsp butter (or olive oil)
Salt and pepper to taste
Slowly sauté leeks  in butter for about 2 minutes on med heat until beginning to soften. Add broth and potatoes and simmer 30 minutes. Blend with hand mixer or in food processor. Serve hot.

Pretty much anything you like on potatoes can be used as a topping. We love a small pat of butter and fresh ground black pepper.  Cheddar cheese, bacon bits, sour cream and green onions.
I also use it as a base for a broccoli cheddar soup ~(gluten free?) just add chopped broccoli heads during the last 8 minutes of cook time, blend and stir in cheddar as the soup cools a bit.

I really love all these soup ideas! Broccoli cheddar soup sounds especially yummy since I love broccoli and all things cheese. :dribble:

Cotton's mushroom soup sounds yummy! Maybe this fall I'll get a grip of myself and go pick some forest mushrooms to try something like that.

Another favorite of mine is a chicken and prawn with coconut soup. The trick is to add a can of coconut milk, a handful of peeled prawns and a good dollop of red curry paste to your everyday chicken soup, brings it up to a whole new level! :P

wow, that chicken and prawn soup sounds incredible :whoa: i really wish my dorm had access to some sort of kitchen or i'd be running out to the store to pick up ingredients right now!

What a great thread, I love soup! The possibilities are endless and they are usually very quick and easy to make and inexpensive, too.

In fact I just had a bowl of sweet potato soup. I kept it simple, just one large sweet potato, one onion and some fresh ginger, cooked in veggie broth, blended with cream and spiced up with chili and black pepper, ground cinnamon and a pinch of ground nutmeg. The last two were an experiment, but it worked! :P

Some of my favourite soups include a zucchini soup with pasta, a cauliflower broccoli soup (served with crushed pecans and chopped fresh parsley), a chick pea and pasta soup, and a tomato soup with ricotta and plenty of fresh basil. Yummy! The broccoli cheddar soup sounds really tasty as well, I need to try it sometime. ^.^

I saw the thread title and thought "But it's always the soup time of year!"

It's funny, but I always to broth-type soups (I'm more used to hearing people talk about "drinking" soup than "eating" soup), but some of the heavy/meal-type soups that people are mentioning here sound great - I'll have to give some of those a try!  :)

Soup is one of my favorite foods. I could eat it all year long. I love chili too. My mom just made a big pot and it's soooo good!

We have a can of chicken pot pie soup that is heavenly.

I can't cook, but my mom can. She makes amazing homemade vegetable soup.

Mulligatawny soup (spicy chicken soup) is really yummy too. It's actually what got me into coconut curry soups in the first place. Looks icky but tastes sooo good!  :P
