Test Tube Aliens and Soluble Dinosaur Eggs
« on: September 03, 2014, 03:59:41 AM »
Does anyone know anything about these toys?

The first one were different kinds of ugly aliens that came in a test tube that you had to fill with water. The alien would eventually grow inside the tube. I remember one of my cousins had something similar but it was an axolotl insead of an alien. Anyway, it was a very gross thing that I never wanted to see.

The second one are eggs made of... Soap and/or chemical products, I'm not sure. Those are meant to be dissolved in water and reveal a small dinosaur figure. I've seen eggs in Poland and I'd like to grab one, but first I want to check if those are environmentally friendly.

I believe the eggs that you are talking about has a primary ingriedient of baking soda, ive made "home made" ones for my class, and I can't remember exactly what went into them butit was all regular kkitchen type stuff. Id read the ingredients on the ones you are interested in buying as they will probably differ from manufacturer to manufacturer.

They should be fine, but just have a look on the pack to be safe :)

We gave some of those dinosaur/ dragon eggs away to our students this Easter.
I don't think they are really 'safe' to use and play with because they smelled strongly chemical.
The dino baby that came out was all soft and spongey, nothing you could play with. Waste of money and natural resources IMHO.

When I was a kid I had a soap version of the dino in an egg. :) I remember being super excited about baths because of it.

Huh? The dino that came from my childhood egg wasn't spongey. It was a solid figure. But I remember licking the egg and thinking I was going to die LOL (yes, too many chemicals)

Aren't those dino eggs just another version of a 'bath bomb'?

My kids have had the test tube aliens a few times!  They are gross but kinda cool too.  There is a solution that comes with them that you pour in the water.  They hatch from their egg and then grow to fill out the tube in a week.  They have a red light that blinks off and on on their head that represents their "heart".  They come with a card that you can register online that tells you about the alien and lets you monitor its life span.  After a few months the heart stops beating and they die.  They're a lot of fun but they freak my kids out as night.  They never sleep with them in their rooms.  :P
