Found out about this only a few days ago.  I feel really conflicted - I want to get the game (I've always loved playing Life, and a ponified version - even better!), but the selection of characters kind of puts me off.  One main character, and three background ponies.  The assortment just screams "brony" to me.

I feel as though if I bought the game (no small purchase at $40) I'd be supporting Hasbro's pandering to bronies.  But if I don't buy it, I won't encourage Hasbro to branch out a bit with the MLP brand.  Grr.

Well, I'll just put this on the backburner for now.

I was wondering about the pegs for spouse and kids too. That would be weird in a game with the ponies... they must skip that part.  I can say that the pegs still come with the standard Hasbro LIFE game, since we have a fairly recent edition.

Seems like you could easily swap out the ponies they picked for blind-bag pony of your choice right?  I suspect there will be many willing to buy the ponies that the game comes with (like myself, since I am interested in the figure, but not really another LIFE game).

I think they are blind bag sized and probably what the normal DJ and Dr. Whoves that were on Taobao were made for.

Those characters turned up up in a TRU release as well :)

What's funny about these figures is (if the picture is accurate) that they're all (very very slightly) different from the ones released in the Toys R Us figure set. DJ seems to be facing forward rather than having her head askew, Muffin has a thicker tail, and Whooves has a tie. These ones are definitely directly based on the Funko molds.

I wouldnt be surprised if they are the same idea but not quite the actual same if that makes sense :) Thats the way the Monopoly figures are I think - very similar but just not quite the same.

Looks live a very fun game, but bleck I wish they'd stop including :muffin: pony in everything and maybe used some other characters, like blindbag characters. I'd love Rainbow Flash or even maybe Princess Cadence?

:Muffin: Pony bothers people, especially some children of the target audience, leave her in the background or at least portray her kindly instead of making the poor girl something to giggle about. Have her overcome her disability, or work with/through it. Show how strong of a pony she could be. Ugh sorry, tangent.  It makes me so mad. :enraged:

I'm not going to get too far off topic, but I rather like that :muffin: Pony was included in something mainstream. I would've been bothered if it had been "Monopoly" since that's a far more popular game and this is clearly targeted at hardcore fans (even if it's targeted at Bronies, how is that necessarily bad? Just switch out the peices. I think they expected people to have both and didn't want duplicates.)

On a side note, :muffin: Pony 's episode was handled poorly. Heck, it wasn't even her episode, it was AJ's. As the biggest :muffin: Pony collector out there, I wasn't even a fan of it. However, I feel her previous includes in the show were cute and fun for those that wanted them. On the other hand, I hate that most of her merchandise is exclusive and this is refreshing for me that I can obtain something widely availible, which is actually just now coming pretty commonplace outside the CCG (and even further, they are widely releasing her Mane card).

As for the game, I'm betting it will go on sale around the holidays, so that's when I plan to snag it. I wonder how they plan to change some aspects of the game? Hopefully we'll get some reviews soon.
