accessory ID: rare aqua barrettes

Can anyone help me ID these aqua barrettes, please?

I know the hearts barrettes go with Dream Beauties, either Shimmering Beauty Stardazzle or Rainbow Beauty Morning Glory, but I'm not sure which is which.  They may belong to the same pony, though the bottom one is a touch darker than the one above it.  Maybe the top one is a bit faded, or they just came from slightly different batches.  They both look pretty opaque to me.  I've read that Stardazzle's is supposed to be a little iridescent or translucent or something, and I don't really see that here with either of these.  I do have Crystalline's magenta double lilies barrette and can confirm that it's translucent.  (Well, I bought it separately from her, so since she's not MIB I guess I can't confirm for sure.)  I know chipsteRJ posted a pic of DB barrettes a few months ago, and she had the same translucent magenta double lilies barrette, and she also thought it to be Crystalline's.

For the bow clips, I know the top light aqua one goes with UK Great Hair Highlights.  I just got the second one in a pony accessory lot, and I thought it would be the same, but it's bluer.  The difference seems too big to account for fading or batch variations, but I don't know, they're still pretty close.  And I guess it doesn't got with Great Hair Ringlets either; hers is pink.  Does anyone know anything about this?  It's definitely the same mold, but it might not even be MLP.  I did buy the lot from an American seller.

Stardazzle and morning glory both came with the same aqua barrette as for the bows I have no idea but I hope this helps

My childhood Highlights had the lighter barrette and I'm not an expert with later G1 accessories but I suspect they both belong to the same pony as I've seen MOC CP Apple Jack with either pink or hot pink moon combs, MOC UK Tootsie with either coral or dark pink moon combs, Seashell with either green or yellow ribbons, and many others where the difference wasn't subtle.

Was the lot purchased from a collector? Do you remember if there were other European accessories or non-MLP items?

The bow barrettes came with a variety of different toy lines from Hasbro through to some fakies and even some Takara - its one of the more common moulds used. I guess because its pretty versatile in style. I have fakie versions of that barrette in various shades of pink, various shades of yellow, orange, white and a couple of shades of blue.

The only thing I would say is, I am not 100% sure if that is Highlight's barrette. It doesnt look quite green enough for her. Her barrette is a proper minty green there really is no blue in it at all. However, its probably the picture which is changing the colour a little. If its doing it to that it could be doing that to the others. The dark ribbon is not MLP but I cant say for certain which other toy release it came with. These barrettes were turning up with toys right into the 00s.

On the frilly hearts - the one at the top looks like Morning Glory's to me. Neither of them look light enough to be Stardazzles. Again its a barrette which has been reused with other lines. However, again its so hard to say for certain with colours! Apologies.

I'm 99% sure that the light aqua bow barrette did come with Highlights.  I got it with her from UK Ebay, and also her (ugly, I think, but still gotta have it) cloth barrette with the streamers.

As for the hearts barrettes, like hathorcat said, it's hard to tell by colors.  It sounds like the molds were reused in other lines; does anyone know which ones?  And my biggest remaining question:  DOES STARDAZZLE'S BARRETTE HAVE ANY KIND OF TRANSLUCENCE, IRRIDESCENCE, OR PEARLY COATING?  If it does, then that would tell me that neither of these are hers.

As I mentioned, its probably just the colours on the picture That's the problem with so many accessories as you know - such minor shade differences its hard to tell for certain. If you got it with her streamer bow then I would think its 100% hers especially if you got it from a non collector.

I have seen the frilly heart barrettes for those sets both with and without a sheen; I dont believe a different coating really tells you for certain who it belongs to. Its more relevant to the colour.
