Quick question about Merry-Go-Round ponies.
« on: July 19, 2014, 04:53:03 AM »
Specifically Sparkler; is she a particuarly rare/hard-to-find pony?
I've had a look for her around the internet and have only found one, compared to the other Merry-Go-Round ponies who seem to be absolutely everywhere (and very nice, but it's Sparkler who's piqued my interest at the moment).

Thanks!

Everyone says Diamond Dreams is the hardest to find....but for me, it's Sparkler who I'm missing as a set completer as well :(

I'd love to own DD and Sparkler, their colours are so beautiful. I have the two in the Tootsie pose they also make a nice pair  :)

Sparkler is a bit harder to find. This whole set is not the easiest to come by. But yes, Diamond Dreams is more than likely the most difficult to come by in this set.

Thanks for the information; I might pick her up while she's available, just in case she doesn't turn up again for an eternity or something. XD I'd never seen Diamond Dreams up until a few minutes ago but she's absolutely amazing!

Are you looking at the one in the USA? I would check what the 'very minor' signs of age are and if she is sticky inside, but I'd probably get her if I had the money  :) Also I see you are in the UK - personally I wouldn't pay Global Shi**ing program ;)

The one I've found is on Etsy; the only thing I'm a little hesitant about is that there's a mention of minor discoloration in the description, although there doesn't appear to be an awful degree of it, judging from the photos. Other than that, she does seem to be in good shape. I can always have a little think about it over the rest of the weekend. :)

Sparkler and Diamond Dreams are always the harder to find of the set. Outside the US, the MGRs were only released in a set of 4 - this set excluded Diamond Dreams and Sparkler. For that reason there were fewer of them ever sold and that equates to fewer of them available second hand all these years later and also makes them pretty tough to track down outside the US unless from a fellow collector.

Its a kind of similar thing to Mimic and Bright Eyes; the former is more sought after but equally as available as the latter. Sparkler is as hard to find as Diamond Dreams but the latter is more sought after :)

It took me months to track down sparkler, now diamond dreams is the last one I am after.

I've been trying to get my hands on Sparkler for a while now too but didn't realize she was hard to come by. At the moment I have Brilliant Blossom (my only MGR pony as a kid, although I hated her because of the colors) and Flower Bouquet but this is one of the sets I am planning on actually completing.

That explains a lot, thanks :)

I picked up the other four all at last year's PonyCon, but it took a few months to find Sparkler and even longer for Diamond Dreams, was a tense bidding war on Ebay for her  ^^;

Yes I think sparkler is the hardest to find. Diamond dreams is hard too.

Thank you for the advice, everybody! I decided to get her after a bit of further consideration. :)
