Need help with my Breyer horses
« on: July 11, 2014, 12:56:13 PM »
So I have a small collection of  Breyer horses from childhood and now I am needing to move them from my parents house to my house.  I have kept the empty boxes for some of these for years but they take up a lot of space.  Can anyone help me price the horses and let me know if it is worth keeping the boxes for any of them.  Otherwise I am going to throw the boxes away.  I don't really keep up with the Breyer collecting community so I have no idea what anything is worth.

These are the names of the horses whose boxes I have.

No. 886 Starlight 1994

No.980 Silverton

No. 965 Calife

No. 720598 Pegasus

No. 701197 Unicorn IV White Pearl

No. 774 TOF Aristocrat-Haflinger

No. 647 Bay Arabian

No. 653 Black Pinto

No. 658 Bay Pinto and black leopard Appaloosa foal

I also have a black unicorn and Dreamweaver but not the boxes.

Any help would be appreciated!

The box really does not bring up the price of the horse if it was taken out. I also kept boxes to and ended up just getting rid of them.

As for the prices ebay and MH$P are two good places to good. The market right now seems to be down on Breyers unless they are brand new and are SR horses.

I collect them but haven't for some time, sigh I would love Dream Weaver as that was one of my sisters horses that started me wanting to get into Breyers, MHSP is a good site for prices but remember that the condition of older horses ( or any model ) does dictate the price/ value.

Breyer Horse boxes, worth keeping?
« Reply #4 on: July 12, 2014, 10:55:01 PM »
So I'm wondering if  anyone thinks it's worth keeping  Breyer boxes from horses that were mainly purchased in the 90's. The large window box style. Some with stickers that were year special editions.

I have a big pile that I'm considering getting rid of unless anyone thinks that keeping the boxes somehow would add any value to the horses if I sell  what I still have.

Toss them.  For the ones with the special stickers, I cut those out to keep, but they don't actually add any value.

I would keep them!! They're easy enough to send by media mail if someone would be interested in them. You never know...

If they're taking up too much room you could simply break them down/flatten them. They if someone still really wants the box, they probably would not mind too much (better than no box at all). I don't know if the plastic would flatten well with the cardboard, if so you could detach and recycle, similar to saving the backcards for mlp without the bubble.

I'd toss the boxes.  The only ones people ever really seem to want are the old 70's & 80's cardboard boxes with the pictures on them. The plastic ones?  Not so much.

If the box has an ID card or information section on the back you can cut that out for collectiblity showing and toss the rest.  The only boxes with any real value as mentioned are the old picture boxes or any small numbered special runs.

Topic might be a little old, but I store my horses in the boxes if I can, twist-tied in so they don't move. Otherwise they warp and get rubbed and broken bits if you just pack them all together.

Thanks for all of the replies!  I went ahead and got rid of the boxes.  In my estimation, they aren't worth the extra trouble of keeping them.
