Is there anywhere I can catch up with the MLP comic books?
« on: July 11, 2014, 01:10:09 AM »
I've always been interested in the My Little Pony IDW comic books, but I've never really had a chance to buy any other than the first four. Is there anywhere I can buy the other older ones?

I believe that they get printed in collections. It's actually cheaper than buying individual comic books, but I can't resist getting the monthly issues. :P

There is a site that has them for -ahem- viewing, but have you looked on IDW's site? Most places you should be able to back order.
As Reanna-mator said, they are getting published in collections of each arc, I believe.

I actually just got into them after downloading a few copies from yay ponies just to have a go at them, I'm pretty fussy when it comes to comics! I bought the four collections off of ebay the other week, from a few different sellers, it cost me around $10 less for each one, including shipping, than the two comic book stores in my area. So I'd check online first, then check out any comic book stores in your area. All of the comic book stores here have the collections, and there's a much bigger pony presence over there in the UK than there is here.

I prefer to get the printed collections honestly. They currently have four volumes of the regular story line (covers up to the pirate arc it looks like) and the fifth collections releasing in september.
They also have the Friends Forever side comics in collected books.

Might want to check your local library and see if they have the collections. I was curious in them as well and borrowed the first book from my library. Turns out I don't like them as much as I thought I would so I'm glad I didn't buy them haha!

In the UK you wont find as many options as the US. Most comic book stores and national retailers like Forbidden Planet are carrying them. Unfortunately a lot of these places have sale or return deals with publishers; this means if things dont sell by the time the next issue arrives they can return to publisher for a refund of the non sale item. Different retailers and different comic will have different sale or return options - from holding anything from one issue up to 4 or 5. However none of them are likely to hold the last couple of years of issues.

As others have said the solution is compilation editions - all of the comics are released in trade volumes which contain multiple issues at one time. You can get these on Amazon, Forbidden Planets website and no doubt in store of a couple of comic book shops. This shows you all the compilations currently available - http://cat352.wix.com/mlparena#!compilations--specials/c4d4
