Issue with buyer on eBay
« on: July 12, 2014, 09:22:50 AM »
Basically, a buyer said they didn't receive an item on eBay. I was in the process of filing a lost item claim when the item was suddenly returned to my house as the buyer did not collect it from the post depot (I did originally ask them to check if it was there). So I said I could either offer them a refund for the item only and not the postage, or they could repay postage and I'd send it again, which I think is fair as it is not my fault the buyer never collected the item. Now they've gotten real annoyed and escalated the case for eBay to decide, and I'm no longer able to send messages. This is so annoying! All I've done the whole time is be polite with them despite their impatience and now it's as if they're blaming me for this. Is there anything I can do at this point other than wait for eBay's decision?  :(

It sounds like you are being fair to me. Unfortunately I can't think of anything else you can do besides wait now that they have opened a case. Ebay will get to decide now. Hopefully it works out in your favor since you did everything right but usually Ebay sides with the buyer. Good luck!

Well eBay refunded them anyway. So basically I lost money through a buyer who never bothered to check their postage depot. I had proof of postage and photos of the returned item, it seems eBay was going to be in their favour no matter how much evidence I had to prove I'd done nothing wrong. In a pretty terrible mood no.,

Sorry to hear you lost money! That is never good :(

It could have been the post offices fault.....I know I just went through a huge incident with my PO where a package was scanned as delivered but I never received it. I imagine it is either up at the PO somewhere or has been sent back to the buyer and I wasn't told. Did the person say whether they had contacted the PO?? That is pretty lazy on their part if they didn't even make a single phone call to see if their package was up there. Its not fair but as a buyer you have to assume that the PO is going to screw up so you have to stay on top of things. I stalk all of my packages because I know my mail carrier and PO are no good!!

At least you can leave negative feedback. That might make you feel better

I can't even do that anymore though because you can only leave positive feedback for buyers *sigh* in a last attempt I'm appealing the case

What a pain

The item was returned to you though correct? So actually you should not be out any monies, as your buyer originally paid the shipping costs, not you.

True, but I already used that money to send the item, and now eBay refunded them it, so I in effect paid it myself as well. Oh well

The exact same thing happened to me just recently with a buyer from Germany, the parcel was returned to me with an unclaimed sticker, I was in contact the whole time, took pics of my receipt & asked her to check her PO. Ultimately I also refunded the buyer & I lost out on postage too. :(

It sucks doesn't it? Oh well, I can make the money back when I resell the item I suppose.
