Twinkles the Cat

I was rinsing off Twinkles because it was all dusty and his whiskers, nose, stripes and eyes started coming off. NOOOO! So what do you all use to restore the pets? Just acrylic with seal like for the ponies?

Is she sticky at all? If she's leaking plasticizer paint won't stick. I just use apple barrel acrylics for my customs then seal with a matte mod podge. Good luck!

I did the same thing. *commiserating sad smile* I'm waiting for mine to finish the plasticizer conversion process. He's pretty close now - I get the subtlest "click" sound when I rap my fingernail on him. But then he has been sticky for at least ten years. I've just decided to accept faceless Twinkles into my heart.
I'll put something here some time

Yeah he's sticky. So I just need to wait it out then before messing with him?

Yup.

I had a really gross sticky Peachy. Put her in a paper bag in a tote for a year. She's not sticky anymore... Maybe it was luck or maybe I'm on to something... lol

Well it cant hurt. I'll give it a try. Maybe the paper absorbs some of the plasticizer? Thanks for the advice guys.  :)

Try giving him a bath in rubbing alcohol and a rub down with baby/talc powder. That should stop the break down. You should then be able to add the paint and sealant. Just keep an eye on him and dust him off with talc/baby powder ever so often and it should prevent the issue from returning. This method doesnt cure it but it does hold it off reasonably indefinitely.
Thank you Matcha for my gorgeous Baby Fifi avi
