July Birthflower, Water Lily G1 Pony? Rare?

Hey there everyone!
I was wondering about Water Lily - The July birthflower G1 pony!

Is she rare?
I am aware that she's a mail-order pony, but can't seem to find her anywhere for sale!
Could anyone tell me a little about her?

My birthday is on the 11th of July, and I have a slight suspision my boyfriend wants to buy it for me as a present, though - again, I can't seem to find her anywhere!

They are not really that rare but as you mention they are mail orders and that can make them harder to track down. However they are not as hard to find as a lot of later MOs though. I would try a thread in the Wanted forum, some more ebay stalking and perhaps even posting in your signature that you are looking for her. You will find her before you find a lot of more common but more sought after ponies.

There are two sets of G1 birthflowers out there.  The regular mail order one from the USA, and there's an alternate colored one that was only available in one or two European countries, and Australia I think.  The regular one isn't particularly rare, but the alternate one certainly is!  None of the regular mail order birthflowers are exactly rare, but finding that particular month you're looking for can be a hassle.  Try asking around the pony community first.  Mail order birthflowers are pretty common to see on trade/sale lists.  I personally have at least six of them sitting in my trade bin(no July - sorry). 

If you're going to be hunting on ebay, you'll need to know *exactly* what the symbol for the month you're looking for looks like.  The mail order birthflowers are all pretty similar from a distance.  They also show up pretty often in lots of ponies.  Sometimes you see the whole set, sometimes it's just a few.  Again, finding any birthflower isn't hard, but finding the exact one you want is a lot harder.  Complete sets of birthflowers are fairly common to see on ebay, if you're looking to spend some serious money.

There's also a very nice set of G3 birthflowers if you collect that generation.  They're some of the more expensive store bought G3s, but that's not saying much:p

From what I know, the G1 pony isn't terribly rare or expensive - I bought one fairly early on in my collecting! - but they don't come up for sale a lot, especially as a set. You're likely to find the more common ones, like the Chrysanthemum, over and over before you find the one you want. But that's just my own experience. Her symbol is blue, so maybe that'll make it easier to pick her out in a blurry auction photo?

Its her name, and the fact that she's july, makes her so special to me.
