What do you go by when collecting ponies?

Mine is to collect all the Hong Kong/China releases. It'll take forever but that is part of the fun

I don't have a set way to collect ponies. I know when I came back to collecting I had to buy everything that I saw. I got over whelmed with all the ponies and sold many of them off.  Now I buy what I like and if I see a very good price I will get the pony. If its a pony that I am not interested in I get it and fix it up and sell it again. I buy G1, G3 and of course G4 ponies right now. I have never been into the G2 or G3.5 ones.

I also would pony shop with my Credit Card and that is a big NO NO! I found out the hard way to not do that! Its way to easy to spend more then you should.  Now I only buy ponies if I have the extra cash and I feel ok about it all. I don't want to get back into that bad hole.

I'd love to have all the G1s, but it's not really a "goal" exactly since a large part of what I like about collecting is the hunt for them. So I guess what I go by is I'll buy whatever I can find in person at thrift stores, yard sales, etc. that doesn't cost more than a few dollars a pony (more for playsets, obviously). I suppose I'll stop when I can't find them for cheap anymore    I already did for about 5 years before moving to an area where I can still find them again.

I would like to have at least of every G1 pony (US and Euro) excluding any nirvana ponies. Those are just too much money for me! I'd love to have some of the cheaper Nirvanas of course, but not all the super rare super pricey ones!
It'll probably never happen though, but I'll try!

G2 I'd also like to have them all.

G3 I want em all!

G3.5 ehh no thanks. If I get them in a lot I'll keep em but probably locked away somewhere until I clean and sell them, but I doubt they have a market!

G4 one of each pony. Unless it's vinyl scratch, I'll get every release of her. I stopped collecting blindbags so only brushable and collectors figures.
For Funko's I only collect the side characters, not the Mane 6. I also want euro exclusives!
I'm okay with duplicates if it's like, glimmer wings ploomette and a regular ploomette.

I am far from a big-time collector, but here are my pony goals:
Glow-in-the-Dark ponies
Princess Luna army
And anything else I really like (have a small Muffin army, want to get my childhood ponies again, toying with the idea of collecting bee symbols)

Every g1 ever!!!!......well I try to collect like all the dutch...all the UK etc......I have completed so far u.s., UK, german,macua ,dutch....I think those are my complete collections so far....but I have a ton of others too.....Lol...give or take a couple variants....lol...I need
