I finally got a smartphone last November and it lives on its charger near my bed.

But when I got to bed, it goes on silent.  I like my sleep.  :)

Technically I sleep next to 2 cell phones - my old one is permanently plugged is and it's my alarm clock.

My new one goes on my nightstand (charging if needed), just so it's nearby and I know where it is. The only person that texts me mostly is my hubby, so I don't have to worry about it going off in the night. If I got any calls, they would be emergency calls. Also we have no home phone, so our cells are our main phones.

I just keep my cell phone off and just turn it on when I need to. I like to be mysterious.

My phone is my alarm too, so I put it over the other side of the room so I am forced to get up to turn it off! and its far enough away I don't wake with calls or texts thru the night. sometimes

My phone is pretty basic because I am not that into phones or being glued to it 24/7.   I swear people are way too dependent on their phones.  Put them down and have a face to face conversation.  Anyway it's usually my mom or people wanting money calling so yeah rather not have a phone but I need it every now and then.

I do keep my phone by my bed and it used to be on but my mom did not seem to understand I work nights and do not like calls at 8am the next morning.  I go to bed at 2am some times.  8am is too early for me.  So yeah my phone is still by my bed but it is kept silent so I can try to get some sleep.

I keep my phone on my bed-side table at night. I have to, because I go to bed pretty early and sometimes, a colleague or my boss has to reach me while I'm already asleep. They know it's only for emergencies, though, so I only get woken up very occasionally.

As an amusing aside, when I had my first phone I could go online with, the default setting was that it would alert me every time something happened on Facebook... and I've got a lot of friends who're awake while I'm sleeping. It was a fun time until I figured out how to switch that off.

Mine is my alarm clock, and my go to for news. I also use it to check emails and need to keep up with all my online sales. I rely on my phone a lot. I have an iPhone 5s so it does pretty much everything I need to and I use it to post on the arena too. I am also an Instagram addict :P

I probably ought to keep my phone closer, but I have the bad habit of leaving in my purse overnight, so it's usually not in the bedroom with me.

I don't know that it's a bad thing to miss late night texts and calls though - 90% of those aren't emergencies, so I'm fine with getting to sleep through that.  :)

I keep my mobile with me at all times because well I am pretty much messaging my bf all day everyday as we are so far apart (UK for me Sweden for him). Atm I am getting a break from my mobile though because im in Sweden with him atm. So no more messaging from me ^.^ well except the odd ones to friends and family but thats nothing compared to usual. I actually went out on Friday for the whole day without my mobile   :P
