I only feel bad when I see a little girl in the store and I'm worried that I'm taking a potential toy away from her.

Nope. I look really young for my age, and my normal messenger bag I take everywhere is not only pony print, but absolutely covered in pony pins. I've even worn pony pins on my work shirt and pony shirts to work, so everybody knows and doesn't have a problem.

If there's a kid and/or parents in the pony aisle I stay out of the way and let them go first or help kids get things down from shelves.

I think that if I go out decked in pony gear calling myself a pony fan, I represent pony fans to the people around me, so I'm going to be on my best behavior to show how good pony fans can be.

Same as me! I don't buy G4 toys but I do love the mlp Plushies.

As for buying in flea markets I don't really care what people think. I'm not hurting anyone. Most of my bf's collegues thought it was odd but they soon came around when they saw my collection. One even brought me some photos from when she was little and had a mlp themed birthday party ^^

The only one who took a while to come around to it (and is still not fully on board) is my boyfriend himself. He lectures in a university so he is into all conferences and marking and I'm sitting there combing a mlp toy's hair :P. To be fair on him though he supports me and doesn't discourage me. He just makes sure that EVERYONE knows that it is me who is the mlp fanatic and he has nothing to do with it XD

My sister bought 3 G3s from me on ebay and was like "the woman who sold them to me was super amazingly nice, I highly recommend her if you want to buy more" and I was proud to say, "yes, pony people generally are super nice" because it's true  :)

Probably once. But these days since most of my new ponies come from the thrift store, I'm just really excited to have found them and that supercedes it.

It's funny, because I often hear about toy collectors being in awkward situations, but I've actually never had a negative experience buying toys as an adult - I don't know if I'm just lucky, or if it's a regional fluke (although I doubt that, because this has been my experience across cities and countries) or if I look like someone who has a purpose, so no one questions it, or what.

He sounds like a catch though!  :)

One word...

Nope! :P I have no shame and am proud of it! Admittedly, I have gotten weird looks from cashiers/vendors before and have to end up explaining myself. The funniest incident was at a used bookstore where I bought three or four pony books (one of which was G1!), and the cashier literally came out and told me, before I even said anything, "You know those are for little kids." I mean, seriously? For all he knew, I could have been buying them for a little kid! XD Then I had to explain--"I know they're for little kids..."--but I think he was still a bit weirded out by the fact that a teenager was buying rainbow-y picture books for a toy collection...

Uneasy because I know I should be saving my $$ for food and rent?  Sometimes.  Uneasy because I am embarrassed to buy ponies?  Nope.

If a cashier is giving you a weird look for buying anything, then they are not doing their job properly.  Besides, adults buy toys all the time, usually for their own kids or as birthday gifts.  It's really not that unusual!

I have the opposite thought...I worry that the little girl is going to get my pony...especially at garage sales!
