I kinda hate common names also though... I hates that I wasn't the only Stefanie in the class. I was Stefanie 2. We also had a Mark 1 and 2. A Jeroen 1 and 2. A Sarah 1 and 2. etc.
BUT on the other hand.... growing older, in this era, I like common names.
See, with my last name included I am the only Stefanie Lastname in the world!
this makes me sooo searchable on the net... their are a few things I did in the past with my real name that I'm kinda ashamed for (nothing serious, just profiles from when I was 12-16) wich I can't remove anymore.
I actually at one point... joined 50 random forums with my real name so it would look like their were more then me with the same name :')
I think that is also something to think about.
unique name pro's:
- If you want to be famous and achieve that, your name can help.
- you are an individual.
- You are easy remebered.
- It can inhance certain personailty traits or looks. (I know this stunning girls named Mystica. Ridicoulous name... but since she is actually stunning and you want to know her more... the name enhances it)
Unique names con's:
- If your not an awesome, hot, supercool person to todays standards... you can get teased with it.
- you are easy tracable on the net.
- you are easy remembered.
- Unique names tend to make people look 'less'. Psychelogical research has proven that certain common names make people associate with good characteristics as trustable and strong. Unique names do the oppesit.
Any more I forget?
By the way, over here you can decide your own name. I can tell people my name is Poopiepants McPonyluvver if I want.
In official forms I can fill in 'Poopiepants McPonyluvver' as my 'calling-name' (don't know they english word) as long as in the part that request my official name I actually put in what is on my i.d. documents.
So there are solutions when children don't like their name. (I thought in USA you can just buy a new name?)
Anyway. Like the discussion.
But partner no want, no do.
