The full story, for anyone curious:
When I was a kid, I got a magazine advertisement from the Bradford Exchange for a series called The Gift Of The Unicorns Porcelain Egg Collection. I begged my parents and they finally agreed that I could order them.
It was a series of 16 porcelain eggs with pictures of unicorns painted on them, that they were supposed to come to me 1 per month. At the end of the 16th month they were supposed to send me a wooden display case to display them all, and a small porcelain unicorn to go on top of the display case.
I remember for the first few months I got 1 egg per month, but then I came home one day and there was a big box waiting for me. I opened it up and there was a letter from the Bradford Exchange saying that they were sending me the rest of the set all at once instead of 1 per month. (I remember I was kinda sad because it was fun to wait a month to see what the next egg would be!)
The box had the rest of the eggs, but it didn't have the display case or the unicorn figure that was supposed to be mailed to me at the end of the series. I was super shy as a kid and I had a lot of trouble speaking up. I never even told my parents that the display case never arrived, let alone try to call the Bradford Exchange or anything like that to ask where it was.
So to this day I still have the 16 porcelain eggs in a wooden display case I made myself in woodshop class in high school. But I always was sad I never got the porcelain unicorn for the top of the display! But then I found it on ebay, and now here it is home with me. My collection is complete! ^_^
