Cosplay help?

I wasn't sure where to put this, so I hope this is okay.

I'm going to be doing a Pony cosplay for Fiesta Equestria and I've got everything down except the main outfit. I would like to go with a shirt/long pants combo of some sort (leaning towards baggy pants with lots of pockets and a simple grey shirt) or a long grey dress. Of course the cutie mark will be added, probably on the sides. Anything revealing or short is out of the question as I am not the fittest person in the world (but I'm not a cow, either... and I just started my diet and excersize, trying to lose a little weight). Oh, and it's in July, so nothing like a parka X.x

I haven't decided on how to do the shoes yet, but I really want to put the HASBRO logo on the bottom of one.

All the accessories (ears, wig/tail, ect) are accounted for.

Basically what I'm wondering is, for Pony or any pony cosplay, what do you think would look better?

I even considered her EQG appearance, which I may go with despite my huge dislike of the spinoff. Seems really the best route as I'm a stickler for accuracy.

I've seen people do her with pants and a sort of crisp, short-sleeved shirt as a mail pony, and it's a look I've always thought worked out really well. Even without the mail aspect, you get something grey and comfortably utilitarian. I don't think I've ever seen a long dress, but I am sure that you could make it work if you went that way.

I always think she is perhaps a little tomboy-ish, so I think the idea of trousers and a top would work great. I dont know if necessarily baggy, formal trousers may look better. But thats something you probably have to test out and see if you are comfortable with

Any updates, have you made up your mind yet? I would probably go with trousers and a shirt, too. I like the idea of a long dress for pony cosplay but I think that might work better with some more ladylike characters like Rarity or Fluttershy. I'm sure it'll look good no matter what you decide to go with, though!

Are you going to sew the symbols on, or do you have other plans? (Like embroidery or something else, there must be other options that don't even occur to me, I'm clueless when it comes to sewing or cosplay! )

I'd love to see some pics (WIP, finished, whatever) if you have the chance to snatch some of the details of your outfit.

I tend to like more literal cosplays.  So ears and a wig and leggings, etc.  I don't really know all the fan tidbits about her, but I do know that apparently she likes muffins lol.  Maybe an apron with a little muffin embroidered on it?
