restoration questions and things
« on: April 29, 2014, 08:20:13 AM »
first questions:
1. so I just ordered G1 choc. delight and the pics show a small brown unknown spot on the inside of one of her legs, does anyone have any tips for removing this?

2. how would one get a perfume puff ready for packing?

other restoration type things:
when shopping for ponies I don't really care what condition the hair is in. anyone else?

finally has anyone notices that some ponies hair is longer that others for example merry treats seems to have a really long mane and tail as compared to, say sugarberry. anyone have any ideas why?

My opinions on your questions...

1) It's probably not removable, but magic eraser or acetone would be my suggestions.

2) I've never packed my PP's any differently than regular ponies, just a larger ziplock so their hair won't get too smooshed...

-I personally also don't care too much what condition a pony's hair is in, just color and if it's cut or not (color meaning, is it faded)

-As for the different lengths - style, mostly. I think Hasbro had more "fun" towards the end of the MLP run than the beginning. The Original 6 all have short manes moreso like a "real horse" might have, then we see them become more and more fantasy.

 Just my two cents.

I thought you weren't supposed to put certain ponies in plastic bags though?

Scented ponies with pink hair can have the hair turn green in baggies, I think? Doubt that applies to perfume puffs though.

The dot on Chocolate Delight is hard to say for certain unless we can see it. So perhaps posting a picture when you get her is the best idea. If it is an age mark. As Sunshine says its not going to be removable. However it could well be something which will lift with acetone or sun fading or a magic eraser - you are never going to know until you try.

I also have never packed Perfume Puffs any different than other ponies; perhaps the only difference is that I am a little looser with the bubble wrap around their heads in order not to press the hair into the bodies. But the puffiness will brush out at the other end anyway. You can put any pony in a plastic bag especially for a short period such as shipping or moving. Just try not to store them long term without leaving the plastic bags open or having air holes punched in them. A pony or her hair wont change colour being store in a bag unless there is a contaminant in with them or on the pony.

I am a fussy collector so yes hair condition does matter to me. As long as its recoverable then I can live with it - but I prefer ponies as minty as possible.

And yes - there are a few different lengths of pony hair across the line. Variety! Thats one of the coolest things about G1.
Thank you Matcha for my gorgeous Baby Fifi avi
