Any kind of very fine glitter will work. I use mod podge as my glue. I start by thinning out the glue first, then I add a small amount of glitter to where the symbol needs touched up, then let it dry. For my customs, I put sealer over top of that, but I don't know if you'd want to do that for a restore. Hope this helps!

Edit to add examples.

I'm anti loose glitter, so I paint the symbols the correct colors and then add a couple of coats of this stuff.  It dries clear and adds sparkle without mess.  Yes, I am a klutz, glitter would be all over my house!

I blend micro glitter into a gloss sealant and just paint it on.

I use triple thick clear coat, both Americana and DecoArt have something similar.  I usually paint the emblems with a much darker color prior to putting the glitter on as this makes the glitter pop even more.  I also don't typically place a clear coat over the emblem because I think it looks more sparkly without it.  :)

Thank you I bought some of the folkart extreme glitter and I used it, however it made the symbol 3d but I liked it. Darkhorse (and may I say your customs are to die for) I love how shiny the glitter is and looks original so I am going to have to try yours when I want to restore ... Thank you all for the info it was so helpful
