Super Sculpey help!
« on: March 24, 2014, 12:56:37 PM »
I'm planning on using super sculpey to make manes for some g4 customs.
I have already painted the pony, but I have read in some places that the paint messes up in the oven? Is this true?
Thanks ^^
Sorry if this is in the wrong place!

As a general rule, I don't like to bake painted ponies or ponies that I've already used glue on.  And by "as a general rule" I mean that I'm too freaked out to even try it, lol, so I can't really tell you what would happen.  What I *can* suggest, though is that maybe you could try sculpting the hair onto another bait pony that you haven't painted and then carefully removing it when it's part way cool/the plastic's still soft enough to hopefully squeeze the pony away from the clay without damaging the sculpt work.  You could then carefully glue the sculpted hair onto the already painted pony.  Not completely sure if it would work, but it might be worth a try :)

I have heard of paint scorching and burn off in the oven, but I think it depends on the brand and base. I think the risk for discoloring is decently high.
I'm not really on here anymore. Email me if you need my for something.
