One time, a hygienist gave my lip an Indian burn with the tool she was using to attach bands to my braces.

Ugh...I am in the middle of a session with the dentist due to chipping a tooth. 4 appointments down and another 2 or 3 to go in order to make sure it doesn't loosen. Apparently I "chipped it in the weirdest and worst place". Its a bottom front tooth hence why I am suffering in order for them to get it fixed enough to stick around :P

I am living on some happy pain pills due to the ongoing pain and am eternally grateful for the NHS...otherwise I think the dentist could go to Barbados on the back of what my bill could have been :(

In general dentists are not my favourite entertainment but I agree its the after effects of the jags which cause more pain than the tooth sometimes! So its not really the dentist to blame...I guess :P

I don't hate going to the dentist, I'm just claustrophobic and don't like hands all over my face. >.< Or having metal instruments shoved in my mouth.

I will say I had braces for two and a half years, and I had to wear headgear for six months.

Omg... I've both laughed and shuddered at these stories!!! Glad to know I'm not alone in dreading the experience

My repaired molar feels weird.... and I'm having to re-train myself to chew on that side!!

I'm never nervous about the dentist, in fact, I am one of those weirdos who likes the drill. I enjoy going and never have had a negative experience, but I've not had anything too major done before. I bet if I have something done that requires more than a check-up, an abcess drained or a filling done my opinion of the drill will change. Having blodd tests done or getting needles on the other hand, yikes!  :yikes:

Woo, I just got a call from my dentist! She told me the insurance finally approved my crown replacement, so I'll have it prepped on April 1st. Finally!

Normally I don't mind going to the dentist. However in 2008 I had to have an infected molar pulled. I'd let it go for six months, figuring it "wasn't that bad. By the time I was seen, it was one step away from blood poisoning.

When they got me in the chair, it was supposed to be 15-20 mins. That turned into an hour and a half. The tooth was rotten and had cracked, causing them to have to cut into my jaw. I was wide awake for all of this. In hindsight they should have knocked me out but didn't think it would take that long. Thankfully I was so far gone with the pain that I kept still. Or they would have had to restrain me. Which if they had tried that, I'd have punched someone. Don't like being held down.

Nothing but good things to say about the dental staff, they where very nice. Worst part for me was being awake. I felt and heard everything. Imagine the sound of breaking tile but hearing it inside your skull. Yeah that still haunts me.

Had a tooth pulled in January and everything went fine. Though this time I took care of it sooner. And now I have a cracked tooth that needs yanking. For that just knock me out please.
