Help me remember a sci fi book??

I read it a few years ago.. I thought it was uplift wars but i was wrong, that was a different one..
All i remember about it is dog or wolf-like aliens,
I remember their thing was that they lived in packs sort of but it was as if their minds were connected?
And I remember other bits and pieces, but not much that I can explain with words, hahaha...
I'm on the hunt to find this book

It wa so many years ago I can't remember much else ;_; I remember... possibly there was a war or something? there were other aliens, too..

I remember for the canine like aliens, that the different "packs" didn't go near each other cause they could hear each others thoughts and it was unbearable?? o_o
Ummmm and I remember it was really bad to not be in a group,
I hope all this stuff isn't like a false memory or something lol, I really want to read it again!
