Deflock Talk!
« on: March 10, 2014, 03:37:29 PM »
I'm taking a break from my first (of MANY) deflock sessions (I have 8 ponies on the go...), and was wondering if I could see/hear about some lovely deflocked ponies to keep my motivation up! Show befores and afters, tell me what method/s you used, etc.

Thanks!!

No pictures atm but I de-flocked Magic Star & Gusty not long ago. I used a toothbrush to get all the flocking off on mine  ^.^ worked so well came off very quickly  ^.^

Unfortunately, I forgot to take before pictures of most of my deflocks.  Here's a few that I do have.

An extra Magic Star:

After deflocking and sunfading (that pink stained right through the flocking):

The Magic Star in my collection (befores taken by her seller):

After - no sunfading needed:

Hippity Hop:

After (with her flocked sister):

Twilight (flocking was even thinner than it appears in photos):

Wind Whistler (first one I did):

After sunfading too (she was very discolored from smoke) - she's the one in front (I don't have befores of the other one):

My complete collection of deflocks:

I tried Oxyclean baths on the first few I did but found that just plain hot water did the job of getting the majority of the flocking off just as well.  I follow up with 100% acetone on unpainted areas and rubbing alcohol on painted ones.  Some - like those Magic Stars and Wind Whistler - have the flocking just peel off and I can complete one in a matter of a couple of hours (includes the initial deflocking and time for wash and dry before a second go over).  Others - like Hippity Hop up there - are just plain stubborn and take days of working a bit then going back over them to find missed places.

Lovely photos, you guys!!

Great news, I'm nearly done with my Shady! Probably the easiest one of the group because she came to me with flocking so thin it was barely there. Managed her with hot water and some diluted acetone. ^.^ Then it's just Best Wishes, Bouncy, Skippity Doo, Buttons, Bangles, Ribbon, and North Star...
