Pony-styling questions! RR Rarity and BABW Twilight!
« on: February 17, 2014, 01:32:59 PM »
Hi there!

I recently acquired a Rainbow Rocks Rarity (playful pony), and I was looking for ideas as to how to style her, given all that pretty, but difficult tinsel?

I also got a BABW Twilight Sparkle, and on one side, her bangs don't go flat! The other side is fine, and lays flat with no issues, but the side with the pink stripe likes to stick up! I tried setting and conditioning her hair, but it only helped a little- thoughts?

Thank you!

No one knows how to keep Twi's hair down? :(

You need to boil set her hair. Basically get the fringe in the position you like and hold it in position [I usually use a very thin white ribbon as its nice and soft] then place the toes of a stocking over her head and knot it until it holds her hair very very tightly. Then pour boiling water slowly over it. Then cold water. Then boiling water. Then cold water. And then boiling water repeated several times. Then pop her in a freezer. Take her out and repeat the boiling water pour several times. Leave her some where warm for the hair to air dry. That should help :)
Thank you Matcha for my gorgeous Baby Fifi avi

Oh wow, okay- thanks! I'm a little hesitant to get her soaking wet since she's a plush, but she should be fine! I will try this soon!

Ugh...for some reason I was answering that as though she was a regular pony! My apologies!!!!

Its going to be harder on the plush due to how much water you ideally need to involve. However sometimes all the nylon needs is heat. Dampen her hair and get it into the position you want; hold it in place and then use a stocking to secure it. You are then going to need to position her hair to press against something hot - a hot water bottle if you had it should work perfectly. Refill the bottle several times and give her a good long time with the section of hair you are setting against it. Then pop her in the freezer and then repeat the heat treatment. Finally release her and hopefully it will have set.

Ah, okay that makes more sense! And don't worry- your first advice was still helpful for my playful pony Rarity with tinsel, so it's all good!

Thank you again so much, I'll post my results here, heh.
