Any techies out there able to help me with SD card troubles?
« on: February 20, 2014, 11:30:35 AM »
I've been doing lots of crochet lately and before I give away anything, I like to take a picture of it so I can look back on my past work. Lately it's been jellyfish for friends in their favorite colors- everyone seems to want one!

I have a brand new Canon 16 mega pixel camera from Christmas and an 8 GB SD card that I've used since Lord knows how long. I take pictures on my camera, then I slide the card into my laptop, which is one of those tiny Acers, and cut and paste the pictures into a folder on my computer.

Today I went to grab the photos of my most recent jellies, and the pictures are gone. I tried opening the card from My Computer, but when I opened the card, nothing was there. When I put it back in my camera, I can still see the pictures I took. It's just like my computer isn't recognizing it right now. It's weird, because I've never had this type of trouble before.

What happened? Is there anyone out there who can help me?

I have this exact same problem with my laptop too! I'm not sure if this would work for you, but is there another computer you can try? I've noticed for me at least it's my laptop not responding for some reason.

Are they saved on your card? Or accidentally on your cameras memory? That's where I've found mine when I "lost" them before. Hopefully that's what's up with yours too.

Excuse me if this is a stupid question (not up on technology ;) ) but can you not plug the camera into the laptop with a lead? I can with my DV camera.

Exactly what I was going to suggest... my last several cameras have allowed this!

Huh, what's even more mysterious, is that now that I'm home from work, I decided to pop it back in and suddenly it's working again. I guess it was just a glitch.
