Super Bowl alternatives
« on: February 06, 2014, 11:07:38 AM »
Even though the Super Bowl was a couple days ago, I wonder did anyone here watch any of the alternative Super Bowl programming?

As far as I know, Animal Planet had the Puppy Bowl; Hallmark Channel had the Kitten Bowl; and NatGeo Wild had the Fish Bowl.  My friend and I watched a little of each show.  Not a big fan of cats, so the Kitten Bowl didn't do much for me.  As for the Puppy Bowl, way too saccharine for my tastes!  :drunk:  And then we have the Fish Bowl.  For those curious, it was four hours of goldfish swimming around in a bowl.  Literally.  My friend and I thought it was pretty funny.  Also happened to my favorite of all the alternative bowls too.

None of them really appeal to me. Though somehow watching fish swim around in a bowl seems hilarious! If I'd known that was on, I'd probably have watched it.

The Super Bowl was a really big deal in our city (Seattle) culminating in the insane victory parade yesterday.  But we have no real interest in football- so like most years- we took advantage of the fact that everyone would be glued to their screens by going and doing things that are usually insanely busy/crowded.

This year we went to a normally insanely crowded/popular brunch place,  followed by a visit to the giant ferris wheel downtown (usually many hour wait), followed by a trip to Costco!  It was absolutely fantastic.  Plus-  I knew what the score was all the time anyway, since escaping TVs is impossible.

Check out what the view was from my office window yesterday (this is the victory parade with the Seahawks).  Absolutely insane.   I was glad everyone was happy- but it was sooooo loud and I almost didn't catch my train because it was already filled to the gills by 8 a.m. with sport fans heading downtown for an 11 a.m. parade.  CRAZY

I didn't watch any of the alternative programming since this is my first year living in the US, so it was the first time I had the opportunity to watch the commercials live as they happened rather than looking them up online the next day.

I watched the Kitten Bowl. LOVED it!!!!! I loved how the kittens were named after real football players. I didn't know a lot of them since I have zero interest in football, but I did catch Brett Fur and Feline Manning. :P

Then I watched a bit of the Puppy Bowl until I hit my limit for cuteness. I didn't know about the Fish Bowl. I would've loved to check that one out too. Maybe next year.....

Nothing can top the puppy bowl. I did watch some of the super bowl but it was such a boring game.

Ok, I found the Fish Bowl on their website and on our On Demand. How could anybody watch that for four hours!?!? I couldn't watch more than five minutes of it. I couldn't even get my CATS interested in it!
