I think the problem with that particular "y" is that its from the logo. I think because its the logo its an artist's/designers impression of a font rather than a font itself. So they took Devine/Soutane/Souviner, etc and used them as inspiration for the logo. That would also explain why the logo went on to have the capital y rather than small y in later logos.
