A newb to Sun fading :)
« on: January 08, 2014, 12:40:48 AM »
Hey all! I have never sun faded a pony before and I have a few questions, if no one minds :D What kinds of marks can sun fading help with, and will the body colour of the pony fade also? And generally how does one go about sun fading a pony, like what steps do you take? Thanks all would appreciate some advice on the subject ^_^
Thank you Lindsay1988 for this beautiful Sig!  :lovey:

I've only done a couple, and found the single most important part is to cover their hair!! Marks generally will fade before the body colour, so that *shouldn't* be a problem unless you've got some seriously stubborn marks. Sunfading usually removes pen marks and staining, but not sun discolouration or age marks, or regrind that I know of.

Hopefully that helps!

Sun fading can help with any stubborn marks which other surface cleaners will not move with as well as stains which have gotten into the actual pores of the plastic on the pony. With time and the right levels of UV it will move pretty much anything which has been added to the plastic from an outside source. What it wont help [long term] with is anything which is a result of the plastic itself degrading.

Yes, the body will fade. However, it will always take longer to fade the body colour than it will to fade any stain. So the key is simply to never over expose the plastic - dont leave it sitting in a window for 2 years and never check on it :P Therefore what fade occurs to the body is normally pretty imperceptible.

There are a couple of good tutorials around the Arena - check these out for the how to guide!

Thank you both for your advice, feeling a bit more confident about it now that I know any marks should fade before the ponys body :)
