Question about Nirvana accessories
« on: December 25, 2013, 11:53:13 AM »
How can you tell if you have one? Were they made similar to US accessories? I have two star brushes that look and feel different from my other ones. Can't place them with any US ponies. I'm not sure how to tell the difference. I should post a pic but I can't do it until I get out of work tomorrow.

Some are more different than others. Greek ponies had star brushes that have a sort of milky looking plastic in white, purple, pink, and yellow. Those are the only extremely different star brushes I can think of. A picture would definitely help. :)

Its perhaps a terrible thing to say, but a lot of the nirvana accessories which are re casts of regular release ones are normally a harder and "cheaper" feeling plastic as well.

The way you described those brushes is sort of what mine look like. Late night tonight so I'll post the pics tomorrow.

I just can't find these colors on any US G1 brush site.

I have a few Nirvana brushes, and most of them aren't the same quality as the US versions.  Usually the bristles are a dead give away - they're not as polished(rounded) as the USA ones.  Nirvana accessories are often similar to USA stuff, but they're usually a lower quality. Greek and Argentina accessories are the worst offenders, but it's not unusual to see it in others as well.  I've found that some of my Brazilian accessories have this odd shine to them that the USA versions don't have.  I have Brazilian Baby Lofty with her accessories, and most of her stuff almost looks like it's been oiled.  It's got this weird shine to it, and the colors are pretty unusual(hunter green comb). The Brazilian accessories are some of the better Nirvana accessories quality-wise, but the weird shine and the bold colors are usually what gives them away.

I can't see from the picture what the bristles look like.  If they're rough with little plastic bits at the end, there's a chance you've got something interesting there, though I probably couldn't tell you from where.  I collect accessories, but I don't try to match up ponies with brushes, so I couldn't tell you which pony those might have come from.

They don't look like Greek brushes, to me. Is the pinkish one kind of splotchy, like maybe it's discolored or from a bad dye batch?

Hmmm...I agree with KitKat, the one on the left looks as though its been damaged [sun or bleach or something]. The one on the left looks like Baby Starflowers however.

Yes, now that you mention it that blue brush does seem to match my MOC Baby Starflower:

And the pinkish one may belong to Baby Northstar, but got damaged somewhere along the way??

The bleaching and oxidation on the pink brush looks like it hung out in a sandbox for awhile.  Moisture, combined with sunlight, etc.

I have ruled them out as Nirvana brushes because of what everyone has been saying about the quality. I have Starflower's brush (the one the left) so could this one on the right be Dabble's?

Yes when comparing them side by side I would say it is Dabbles :) That is always the frustration of comparing colours on the internet its always at its easiest when side by side with like colours.

Aqua [Dark] - Baby Starflower [Y8-US]
Aqua Blue - Dabble [SO]
Aqua Green - Songster [Y7-US]

Is the "aqua" list [sorry for the copy/paste] so I would think with the 2 of them you have Starflowers and then Dabbles! Congrats!
