How the heck did that happen?
« on: January 30, 2014, 08:44:11 AM »
So has anyone done anything sort of silly/had something sort of silly happen to them lately?

Because today a book landed on my laptop's keyboard and caused my Capslock key to get stuck, but then after much freaking out I managed to fix it with the aid of some tweezers.

I left a book on the edge of my keyboard once. It took me 10 minutes while starting up my computer to figure out what the strange beeping noise was. Then I realized my computer was only doing that because the book was pressing down some of the keys.

lol, does it still count if it's something you unconsciously set up for failure on your own?  Right now, my chickens are living in the barn due to the cold.  When they're outside, I'll collect their eggs and leave them in a little pile so I can bring them in after I finish chores, but when they're in the barn, the cats will play with the eggs if I leave them on the floor and then they crack.  So, my thought a few weeks ago was to erm... put the eggs in my coat pocket for "safe keeping" (you can see where this is going...).  I finished my chores but by the time they were done, I'd forgotten all about the eggs that aren't normally in my pockets and thought "Gee, the weather's nice enough to ride!"  So, I rode one of my horses, and when I got back into the house I was like "Oh, I forgot the -  Oh, no... the eggs...."  Yeah.  I had to wash my coat that day!

Both my mum and Partypony say I am like Miranda from the tv comedy show and they may have a point. I honestly cant go a day without some kind of disaster which seems to bring hilarity to others and embarrassment to me. Last weekend my neighbour got me drunk enough to pose for her on a life modelling study...I have not been able to walk my dog past the house she stays in since. I keep going around the long [and muddy] way for fear she sees me and wants me to come back for her to finish it off...she does not have enough bottles of prosecco to convince me of that again and as the next estate meeting is at her house I am now mortified this drawing is going to be on display somewhere. *head desk*

I have many of these moments. But one that really stands out is this: I was 18/19 in a rush, had to be at the stables. My mum was like come on but I was still eating so took my food with plate in the car. Mum drove parked car, I put the plate on the dash board, left car ect. Later returned to car pushed the seat forward to get into the back, seat hit plate, plate hit windscreen. Large crack that ran the entire length of the windscreen appeared immediately.

We just stared at in for a few minutes and I was just how, how did that happen? My mum was sooooo angry.

I seem to cause chaos now and then and I am always in the middle of the aftermath unharmed. I did this at work once I loaded a cart into the state home van on the lift and the flap on the back of the lift gave way. The shopping cart that was full rolled backwards, flipped over and landed upside down from a height of 3.5 feet. Management came running out expecting a giant mess, there was only a tiny pile of goo from 3 broken eggs out of 3 dozen cartons, no bread was squished, and not a single jar was broken, nor can was dented. They took the cart off the groceries and all of them were neatly sitting in a cart basket shape and did not fall apart when the cart was removed.

I almost fell out of the hayloft at the barn I work at yesterday
A different company than usual delivered our hay last week, so they didn't know how we usually set it up.  We have a stall that we keep empty to use as a supply room, and normally a path is left open to it so we can push hay bales down a hay drop (basically a hole in the floor of the loft) with minimal fuss.  They didn't leave us a path though, so now I have to climb up and over all the hay bales, crawl along on top of them, and then go down this "stair case" made of hay to get to the drop.  I was trying to go down the "stairs", and the light in the loft was out, so it was dark, and I didn't see that someone must have dropped the bottom "step" into the hay stall and fed it to the horses.  So I fell down, and almost went down the hay drop!   It's about a 12 foot drop, so that would have been horrible, but I managed to avoid the hole.  Instead, I just have a gross bruise on my knee, haha.
