Super Long Hair - What to do - Dibble Dabble
« on: December 15, 2013, 01:40:41 AM »
So I rescued Dibble Dabble at thrift and surprisingly enough her hair has cleaned up fairly nicely.  Though the end of her tail has a lil frizz.

So what do I do with ALL THAT HAIR!  right now it's straight.. but  i can't really put her on a shelf.. it just "piles  up" or hangs over.. (she can't have a hang over! or a comb over EITHER!  :P )

So,  .. suggestions?    Also is she rare? I've never heard of her until I found her.

I have a SLH army, so I wrap the tails around the back legs and the manes either go behind, or lie out in front depending on whether they're on a wide shelf or a thin riser :)

I take a mini jaw clip(for human hair) and double it up in a mess pony-bun look which look really cute, and some I keep their tails braided like my Silly Sunshine. But I think most collectors frown on braids for some reason, although I really like them.

I leave the hair like a waterfall over the shelf edge for all of my SLH's.

Wrap it around her neck / legs.  It will also curl the hair which makes for good display.

Dibble Dabble isn't rare per se - the SLH's that will fetch money are the Euro exclusives and Caribbean Blue and Beach Belle and even still I think they've gone down in value within the past few months or so.  Could be wrong.

Dibble Dabble isn't rare but she seems less common than some of the others. I remember seeing her in stores and really wanting her but I never did pick her up :( I'd really like to get a hold of her.
I wrap their hair like is suggested above or depending where they are posed I let it dangle over the edge of the shelf. I actually have two hanging out on my homemade ceramic Dream Castle like Rapunzels letting down their hair.

This is what I do with my brush n grows :)

I like the hair drapping waterfall-esque :P You can style them in such a way that the hair curls nicely over itself and sits in place beside the pony.
Thank you Matcha for my gorgeous Baby Fifi avi

I do this too with my SLH's on my lower part of my shelf.

I think the braids are pretty as well, but I can tell you why a lot of collectors dislike them... Leaving MLP hair braided for too long creates s a lasting curling or kinking in it. The only way I've found to get the hair straight again is with the hot water method, which also alters the shape. Not something you want to do if the pony in question has any factory curl left. X3

Basically, if the hair is in decent shape, it's best not to mess with it much, lest you cause more "damage". I'm not a "mint" or "NIB" collector, so I don't really care for my own collection ("well-loved" ponies hold a lot more character and nostalgia, to me). :) But for a collector seeking a museum-quality toy, it's a big turn-off to see altered or restyled hair.
