Rehairs are fine, but not for me.  I won't accept rehairs into my collection.  They're fine for a temporary placeholder, but if I'm going to spend money on a pony I'm going to spend money on an original pony.
:like:
This is me. I don't have the room or the want for rehairs. They look pretty, & for the people that do enjoy them, If they make them happy Than I have no complaints.
Glitter for everyone! :fireworks:

Most of my rehairs are generally for restore projects and I try not the deviate too fare from the original colors. If I have to rehair the pony it's normally because there is damage to the hair (Mane/tail cuts, heavy frizz which I never had any luck getting the frizz under control, nasty or dry hair the just refuses to cooperate)... As far as the dry hair part, I just hate the feel of it but if it's not too bad then it can stay.

I did have a few rehairs that I did deviate from the original colors and they still look wonderful..

Two cases were two Little Flitters...
Both of them had bad, faded hair.. I rehaired the one I kept with a white color (because I thought it was pretty and pretty much it is her original color after the true color faded so... not really a deviation there XD).. The other one got rehaired in a different pink because I didn't want to try my luck with the fading pink and the pony's hair just going back to white  She's with a friend now :)

Another rehair I did that was deviated from was because I had bought the color -I- thought was the right color because she had already had her hair cut when I bought her XD It turned out not to be the right color but my friend didn't mind lol.
My DeviantArt, why not drop by and take a look!

Yay Thanks for all the insight! It's opened my mind to rehairs a lot! I've always thought them beautiful maybe someday Ill have a few, but also my pony collection is part of my retirement! I work a lot with antique dolls, and one of those pesky things that skyrocket the price is original hair! Honestly It's up to each of you what you do with your personal property, and if it gives a poor little pony a second chance to be loved ...then its beautiful and amazing! Rehairers out there Do make original ponies value go up! So rehair all you want! Make those girls gorgeous! Enjoy life to it's fullest and don't listen to haters! Thanks again everybody!
...always another rainbow!

Oh yeah you definitely need your ponies to have original hair if your collection is for your retirement. But you could have a couple of alt. rehairs just for fun.
It's cool you work a lot with antique dolls. I've always thought working with antiques would be awesome, getting to know all about past things. ^.^

I'd just like to say that I HAVE seen people rehair ponies who had uncut, shiny factory hair still. :|
I am completely fine with rehairs if the pony has a mohawk or even no hair at all! But it REALLY grinds my gears when no-haircut ponies get rehairs.

However, some of them have had bodies that would have displayed fine, but people don't want them. Bags and boxes of these unwanted ponies are at the Fair every year and people don't even want to rescue them for $1

I'd absolutely love to go to the fair just to buy all those poor ponies!! Restoring is definitely one of my favorite activities ever, even if it takes hours upon hours.

My Mimic is a rehair...I bought her that way from a lady in America. She was in terrible condition when the lady found her and she restored her and rehaired her in original colours (I think she was almost bald when found). And through the wonder of ebay I got me a gorgeous Mimic.

I think I have a couple of others that have been rehaired but can't remember the names.
