Anyone know a good dream interpretation?
« on: December 14, 2013, 05:14:46 AM »
I've always been fascinated with dreams and look up interpretations online  just for fun. Weather or not there's anything to them at all, I just do it as a hobby. So with that aside, does anyone know a good interpretation site online? The last few nights, I've had a recurring dream about going through peoples houses. Some of them I know and some are strangers I've never met. I can vividly remember the layouts and items in them. I've had this dream before the last couple of years but I can't help but wonder if it means something. Any guesses would be great.

Let me elaborate on it some more to help get a better theory:
The dream first started out with me finding a woman I knew in my old hometown and explaining to her about the death of my mom. It was a house converted to a church since she was a religious woman. I remember going through the house/church where her friends and relatives had come to gather for a party or something and seeing all the cute figurines and things she had. I could draw out the layout of the entire inside. I have been in her house and church in real life and it looked nothing like this.
In the following dream, I found myself walking down a street from her house looking for a place and trying to call my dad on the cell phone, but my battery was getting low. I'd snap pictures of something I though was interesting to share on Instagram. I ended up unknowingly going through this lady's house taking a short cut and came out the front door. I was thinking how it's a wonder a security alarm didn't go off (if they had one). I walk some more, through weeds, a hill and find myself in a mans house going out the front door explaining to him I didn't mean to intrude. The door knob broke off and he told me he was going to get a new one? Weird I know!

I can't help but wonder if these dreams are reflecting my real desires of where I wish I was in life, wanting the job/life of others in the field of work I want to do.

Dream interpretation is a highly personal thing. Most interpretation sites are just generalized 'this is what it means for a good percentage of people' things, but if you want a genuine interpretation a lot of it has to come from within. That being said, here's a couple websites I've used:

http://www.yourdreaminterpretation.com/
http://www.dreambible.com/

Best of luck!

I haven't really touched that except if I want to know specific element that happened, because my dreams are very surreal and usually involve a heavy fantasy/sci fi aspect or consist of elements that are fairly recent that have happened.

Best of luck finding out!

If you have done lots of dream interpretation, then you know that the best interpreter of your dreams is yourself.  It sounds like you already have given yourself the answer!  :)

I don't know where I heard it, but I heard once that dreams are a way of the subconscious mind relieving stress by acting out scenarios that represent those emotions. So, it's not the content of the dream that matters, it's the emotion it makes you feel. This certainly holds very true for me, as most of my dreams either literally or emotionally reflect my waking states with regard to stress, worry, fears, doubts, uncertainties etc. I dunno how true that is, very little is understood about dreams scientifically, but some of the theories about why we dream are quite fascinating!

Signed ;)
And even if you want to interpret your dream just for fun, why not have fun and gain something from it? A few years ago I got into Lucid Dreaming and so I got more interested in my subconscious as well. It's always interesting to dissect your dreams and learn more about yourself or how you react to certain things.
"I dream of XY - what does it mean?" doesn't work. Especially not when people try to analyze you without knowing you for a long time.
Of course there are common dream archetypes, but not even them can be applied to everyone since every person is unique.

yeah its all personal, a hobby of giving yourself the most information you can to find out what is troubling you deep down in your subconscious.

in generalizations though it seems to speak of wanting/needing change to find your 'home', which you said yourself ;)
